Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 00 2.0 HDi won't start 19 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I bought the car with the engine in bits as the head gasket had gone. Reassembled the engine and then eventually got the damn thing running. Whomever had butchered it took things off that didn't need taking off, so starting the engine called up many fault codes. Cleared all the fault codes using a cheap code reader (won't do codes with P1 0r P2). -
Spray on Window Tint 7 Sep 2009 (Forum)
All was fine until we were waiting in the Ferry car park, it was a long wait so we got a couple of coffees and stood em on the dash........about 3 minutes later the tint was running down the windscreen and was such a snip mess that I couldn't see properly to drive. The coffee was hastily removed, but too late and it solidified into it's new position. You would think it would have been easy to get off, but so, some bit's came off easy, for others it would have been easier to get a student to buy a round of drinks. -
Lexus GS 300, 430, 460 (2005 - ) - New car, happy with fuel economy !! 4 Aug 2009 (Forum)
I recently bought a 2005 (MK III) Lexus GS300 SE. I fully expected the running costs to be far higher than my previous car (2008 Skoda 1.8 TSi), but decided ?what the hell? and went ahead and did the deal. The Skoda managed 25 mpg around town and up to 44 mpg on a decent journey. -
Peugeot 205 (1983 - 1997) - 94 1.8D losing power at high revs 16 Jul 2009 (Forum)
I have a problem with a 1769cc 205 XUD (non turbo), which is losing power at higher revs. The car runs perfectly smoothly and economically at lower revs, but not so fun when going up steep hills or trying to overtake, when it stutters and judders, as if there were either fuel starvation or shortage of air. -
Mazda 626 (2000 - 2002) - 00 2.0D Diesel leak 10 Jul 2009 (Forum)
I picked the car up today but almost immediately noticed it was still leaking diesel much as before. Is there anything I (or a garage) can do to fix the diesel leak so I can keep running the car for another few weeks/months until the new car arrives? -
Card cloned (possibly) at petrol station 4 Jun 2009 (Forum)
If any of you have filled up in the last month or so near Chippy and didn't pay cash, then I'd check your account very closely; I had money withdrawn in Manila, girlfriend in Tanzania, and about 30 other folk on the town forum alone. The number of people actually affected probably runs into thousands I should think, seeing as how it is on a 'thru road' so gets a lot of non-local traffic! What is a bit distressing is that the same petrol station was at the 'centre of an enquiry' for exactly the same thing about 18 months ago... -
Bangernomics - What are the rules of engagement? 4 Jun 2009 (Forum)
m hopeful of getting another job within the next 3-4 months that will also come with a car but between now and then I need to get a cheap car for running around and going to interviews in. I?ve never spent much cash on my own car, £750 max, and ideally I wouldn?t want to spend more than that this time. The rules I have in place are most have at least 6 months on its ticket, ideally be taxed and easy to sell on when I want to get rid of it. -
Audi A3 + S3 (2003 - 2008) - 04 2.0 TDi DSG Misfire, starting problem 2 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I have took it to a Audi Specialist who repaired the injector originally, and they cant find a fault with the diagnostic machine, so I have run it down to my local Audi dealer for diagnostic to see if they can shed any light.. Has any one any info on this or similar problems? Any info appreciated, Regards, Dan -
DVLA Online Tax Rubbishness 28 May 2009 (Forum)
My tax and insurance both run out at the end of this month. Although this is the first time I've had tax and insurance coincident, I can't believe it's that uncommon. All I did was buy a car, start an insurance policy for it and tax it for twelve months at the same time. -
Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 2005 1.6 coolant fan & FAP issues 13 May 2009 (Forum)
i read with interest, or maybe it's fear, all the FAP issues relating to 307's. no warning lights yet for me... 6 weeks after purchasing a 307 1.6 (110) HDI 54... and long may it stay so .... :-) but... i have noticed the regular fan run-on when switching off the engine. From what been said in various threads this is probaly linked to FAP regen cooling. Firstly could anyone confirm the 'HZC' in my VIN sentences me to this potential 'minefield' of expensive problems? -
handy little things those electric connectors 11 May 2009 (Forum)
Got hold of the throttle linkage (a proper cable, not many of those now in new i should imagine) and operated, by mistake i'd clasped the gearbox cable which runs off the same linage and low and behold it didn't do anything. So peeled back the rubber bellows and there was the cable snapped from its connector...phew!!! So, rattled the old head for a while, and thought if i use one of those screw type terminal connectors i could bodge the thing until a new cable is available. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 99 2.0 Worn diesel injectors?? 30 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I had a new cambelt and full service approx 1 month ago. I immediately noticed that my car on every trip at some point would not run smoothly (hard to explain felt a bit like being in 5th gear but only doing 30mph, a bit sluggish and louder engine or being blustered by a head-on wind). Took it back to garage as I thought that maybe they had replaced the timing belt wrong. -
Queuing etiquette 7 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Now should I just wait where I am , not enter the junction so that in the off chance someone wants to come along that road, then I am not blocking them. Or do I move forward into the junction , let him turn left, and then run the risk of blocking someone? One scenario I am definitely blocking someone, another only potentially? 2. Slip road off motorway is tailed back so they have started to queue on hard shoulder. But no obvious sign of this until you are on them as initially it just looks like one vehicle broken down. -
FIAT Punto II (1999 - 2006) - 00 1.2 Constant flat battery problem 4 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I have removed the fascia of the stereo unit every time the car is parked up so theoretically there should be no power drainage. My relative never had any battery problems with the car and when it does start, it runs very nicely. I am not at all car-minded so don't worry about patronising me with very basic solutions! Any help would be very much appreciated!!! Thanks. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2000 1.6 Front brakes sticking on 24 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Yesterday evening I noticed that the acceleration seemed down and a little later I noticed that the car slowed more rapidly than usual on the over-run. When I stopped and looked at the front brakes, they were hot, hot, hot!! A combination of road dirt, brake dust and a little rust had stopped the sliding action, so when the brakes were applied, they were left dragging more than expected. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 96 1.9TD - Cold starting problem 16 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Battery voltage from cold this morning (09:00) was 12.7v. I got it going then drove it for about 40-50 mins (had to drop the maid to work) and left it running whilst I checked the voltage on the battery. Was fluctuating between 14.5v and 14.7v so I guess the alternator is ok. I then turned the engine off and re-checked the voltage 13.2v. I left it for about 30-60 mins and started it again - started fine - turned engine off then re-checked voltage and still at 13.2v so I guess the battery looks fine on the surface of it - just a bit of a drop as it gets cold overnight. -
Should I opt out of Co. car? What car to get? 19 Jan 2009 (Forum)
d get a slightly better fuel rate from my company so that?s an upside as well. Any other considerations I need to make, please advise. I would run the car for 4 years (cars cannot be over 5 years old to qualify for a car allowance) so it would have circa 180-200k on clock. Vectra diesel/petrol, any others to consider but don?t really want to pay over £8k for a year old car. -
Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 01 1.6 starts well but then slowly cuts out 16 Jan 2009 (Forum)
hi their, i have a vauxhall astra 1.6 16 valve ls. i have had problems in the past with this car but managed to sort it and the last being the egr valve being blanked off a few months ago. but again im having problems. yesterday the car was fine until last nite when it just suddenly died on me. no lights appeared on dashboard beforehand.phoned the rac guy and even he was baffled. no faults appeared on his computer and we also put more petrol in the car, he was thinking the petrol gauge was dodgy. then checked the petrol pump petrol is running fine through system. the car will start no problem, but then has problems keeping idle speed and then just dies. managed to drive the car a wee bit but you really need to rev it up high and try to keep it at that or it will cut out. the same thing happened a few weeks ago, but i managed to limp it home and left it overnight and when i went out to turn it over the next day and it was fine and has been for a few weeks till know. the rac guy seems to think it might be idle control valve?.. -
Help! (hoping) to buy a nearly new van tomorrow 8 Jan 2009 (Forum)

Sliplane mimsers now 21 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Forcing drivers behind to join the motorway at dangerously slow speeds, and/or perform risky overtaking procedures as they are joining the motorway, running over the white lines to get to a reasonable speed. Most of the time drivers on the motorway are switched-on enough to pull into the outside lane when they see this happening, but with the best will in the world not all manage it, especially lorries and quite frankly it is not the responsibility of the vehicle already doing 60-70 on the inside lane to make way for these idiots.
