04 2.0 TDi DSG Misfire, starting problem - r99ker
Hi, I have a 04/54 Audi A3 2.0 TDi S-Line DSG, it has done 60,000 miles, always been serviced etc, about 4 months ago, Starting the vehicle became difficult, sounded different, took a while, loads of black smack, and when it would start it would shake, like a very bad mis fire, got it booked in the garage, diagnosed the fault as a Number 4 Injector, had it replaced with a brand new one, and it was good as new!

Was driving along last week and I felt something happen to the car which I could not describe, went from smooth to being more like a tractor and misfiring heavy! With the glowplug light on the dash flashing, which then went out after stop and re start, on re start it felt as if it had gone back to how it was before the injector was replaced, struggled to start, black smoke, smelt like burning diesel, when it drives it jumps along at 1400-1600 revs, but hwen you get over them revs it is fine.

I have took it to a Audi Specialist who repaired the injector originally, and they cant find a fault with the diagnostic machine, so I have run it down to my local Audi dealer for diagnostic to see if they can shed any light..

Has any one any info on this or similar problems?

Any info appreciated,

Regards,

Dan

A guess would be that it may be the wiring loom that is immersed in oil inside the cam cover on these engines. This is a rare but not unheard of problem that causes these types of symptom. Has the dealer considered this instead of blaming the injectors ?
