I had a new cambelt and full service approx 1 month ago. I immediately noticed that my car on every trip at some point would not run smoothly (hard to explain felt a bit like being in 5th gear but only doing 30mph, a bit sluggish and louder engine or being blustered by a head-on wind).
Took it back to garage as I thought that maybe they had replaced the timing belt wrong. After 3 days and they told me that possibly the diesel injectors were on there way out or the fuel pump. They had attached it to a Peugeot diagnostics kit (borrowed as not a main dealer) and that showed high fluctuations in revs over 2000rpm. To fix would cost the best part of £1000 and wouldn't be worth it, however I don't have any of the other symptoms of diesel injector failure ie black smoke, problems starting.
I have put some cleanser in the tank and have been doing around 300 miles per week ever since and it seems to have got a lot better. So my question is do I believe the garage and scrap my car (don't really want to as it has only done 90,000) or could it just possibly be dirt in the system perhaps from when they changed the filters? I really don't know what to do as apart ffrom this the car is immaculate.
Any thoughts on what else it could be?
