    With Barrett Jackson car auctions starting at 10.00am Arizona time, 8 hours behind the UK, most of these sales are taking place while Brits are in bed. But Arizona is 14 hours behind Thai time, which means they start at midnight and run to midday next day. So my periods of consciousness mean I can fill in some of the gaps while you were asleep dreaming of Corvettes, Mustangs and hot-rods. With the Ron Pratte collection sold, on the third day there were a lot more cars selling in ‘price range’, which seems to be $30k - $60k.
  • London Classic Car Show honours Adrian Newey 13 Dec 2014 (News)
    While his McLaren F1 GTR (a car he calls ‘the first properly built hypercar’) and his Ferrari California will also get a run out to the show. Having won World Constructors’ Championships for Williams (five), McLaren (one) and Red Bull (four), there will also be examples of his work in F1 on the stand, including the 1992 FW14B – the car that gave Newey his first (and Nigel Mansell his only) world title.

The programme is run by Roger Waters, who specialises in training programmes for companies such as BMW and Ferrari. It's backed by Babcock International Group, a FTSE100 company, which is the provider of the vocational training in the TIGOSE Apprenticeship Programme.

    The boxy saloon might have looked like an updated Fiat 124 , but under the skin, it was little short of a revolution thanks to its clever front-wheel drive drivertrain. Almost three million were sold during its Euroean production run between 1969 and 1985 - as well as Italy, the 128 was built in Argentina, Morocco, Colombia, and Sri Lanka. And then it went on to lead a second life in Egypt as the El Nasr 128, surviving into the 2000s.

    Bonhams' Oxford sale of motorcycles and classic cars was held in association with the Vintage Motor Cycle Club’s Banbury Run on 15 June, attracted plenty of interest. The event, a relatively new one on the Bonhams Calendar, scored highly, with 100 lots sold for a combined total of £1.51m.   Highlights among the classic cars on offer at the sale included 100 per cent sold at £413,540 for The Leven Collection, a selection of 19 cars.

HRDC 'Touring Greats' is a dedicated series for pre-1960 historic touring cars running to HRDC/Goodwood regulations. Cars range from the diminutive BMW 700CS and Austin A35/A40s, through MG Magnettes, Standard Vanguards, Volvo PV544/Amazons and Sunbeam Rapiers, to bellowing Jaguar Mk1s, Mk7s and rapid Austin A95/105s.

    And the Richard Edmonds Classic Car Auction will also be taking place on the day with a preview on Thursday 28th and sales and previews on Friday 29th June and Saturday 30th June although entry will be by catalogue only. The Classic and Sports Car Action Day has been running at Castle Combe Circuit for over 25 years. The event offers the opportunity for drivers to get out on the historic circuit with 15-minute sessions costing £35 on the day whilst the more sedate 3-lap parade sessions cost £15 on the day.
