peugeot 406 - clutch master cylinder 15 Dec 2013 (Forum)
It is looser but still not coming seems jammed at the South West/bottom left viewed from front. Do you remove servo, brake m/cyl and actuating rod? The plastic rod extension inside the footwell broke. I wonder if I get this fixed there may be a fault inside the bellhousing, which caused the mechanism to brake when I tried to push down against BIG resistance -

any - Not allowed to name and shame 23 Aug 2012 (Forum)
so not allowed to name and shame a manufacturer or their main dealer who did not have a filter in stock when i wanted one when the car had been booked in for the service, they knew it needed this bit, and because they hadn't got one didn't fit it, but charged the same labour for the service? Told me i needed new tyres, (not necessary) and new brake pads all round) (another Garage near by told my husband tyres and brakes all ok!) when i complained about the oil on my drive and took the car back they said it was due to a small hole!!! Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCi - Stalls on cold days 4 Jan 2012 (Forum)
I turn the key to position 2, wait 10 secs and dont see any glow plug indicator light, start the engine (no probs), then pull up the the end of the road, press the brake, then take my foot off the brake and the rev needle dips (this always happens but it usualy recovers), on cold days the needle drops too low and the engine stalls.I've replaced the glow plugs and tested the old ones (all were working) but this is still happening. -

Ford Focus 1.6 Edge 2004 - Oil leak 4 May 2010 (Forum)
Should I request the dealer that sold it repair it as I paid for an MOT under the previso that if anything is wrong with it they would fix it. I am wandering what happened with the MOT though as I have already had a brake looked at by the dealer that was squealing and also there was a rear brake light out so it sounds to me as thought the MOT was done without any testing... Any help would be greatly appreciated! -
ABS - contradiction 12 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Not that surprisingly, the A5 with winter tyres stopped in almost half the distance my Passat took. However, when watching I was puzzled by what I feel through the brake pedal and what I see at the wheel. With ABS triggered, the brake pedal goes very firm and buzzes under your foot. The buzz is at least 30Hz. However, the wheel is actually locking, releasing, and locking again approximately 2x per second. -
Skilled driving 11 Apr 2009 (Forum)
The Jaguar was driven by its development director (I think), and the author of the article chose to remark on a clear indication of the Jaguar driver's high level of skill: the minimal appearance of brake lights in full flow across country and their momentary appearance well ahead of traffic-light stops. This rings true to me. Think about all those brake lights flashing ahead of you on the motorway, mostly indicating that the car is too close to the one in front. -
Mazda Mazda 6 (2002 - 2007) - 03 2.0 Steering - knocking in steering wheel 1 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I've recently got a Mazda 6 2.0D 2003 and I'm finding a weird knocking feeling in the steering wheel when moving at low speeds when turning to the right. Seems to happen more after braking and during braking (turning right). I've had all arms checked but no difference has been made. I remember seeing a service bulletin once about getting grease replaced in the column as the original stuff ran out of it. -
Pattern parts 18 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I replaced the filter with a Ford filter, cardboard top and bottom and tighter fit in the housing, pressure rise back to normal. I bought the non Ford filter at a factor as I was buying front brake pads, these must be softer than the original pads as the braking is slightly improved, probably wont last the 50K the original pads lasted. Win some, lose some, but no more pattern oil filters for me. -

Volkswagen Passat (2001 - 2005) - Erroneous advisories with MOTs? 4 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Just had it done last week after a pre MOT check - no mention of that problem in the MOT?s in the intervening period. Last year I was told I?d slight wear on the front brake discs (which were only six months old at the time). No mention of that this time. Had several other ,often non existent, problems pointed out (low brake fluid-not). Feels like the advisories are being used to alarm punters into getting work done. -
Front wheel imbalance Audi 80 25 Oct 2006 (Forum)
It is one of those vibrations that makes everything shake, steering wheel, gear lever, pedals, unfirm flesh! Also I thought it might be the brake discs too because if I brake at above speed, get vibration through pedal, and at low speeds I get (dont know how to describe this) like an gripping and ungripping sensation like on and off feel, not constant? -
clanks and clonks - hyundai coupe 23 Sep 2006 (Forum)

Help ! overheating Vectra 17 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Just renewed brake pipes ,front disks on my Vectra after an MOT failure to find it is now overheating. I had also renewed oil and all filters and was fine prior to taking the vehicle off the road for a few days. I took it for a run yesterday and it was overheating as a result of a binding front brake , the disks were in bad shape So I decided to change them today. -

Mechanical sympathy 17 Feb 2006 (Forum)
My brother and I are at odds over the way we drive. I tend to concentrate on making my driving smooth, particularly when changing gear and braking, and he insists that this will lead to more wear and tear on the clutch and brakes. He, on the other hand, tends to make his gearchanges abrupt, saying that just dropping the clutch in means no clutch slipping.
