Please, is there anyone out there who can help me with my Vectra that keeps losing all power after braking? The fault is extremely intermittent and the lack of power only lasts for a couple of seconds. When taking my foot off the brake and then back on to the accelerator it feels like the ignition has been turned off.

Hi all, got an omega 1994 L. Brake light on n/s not working, but bulbs are ok. Tried 2/3 new ones. Is there a particular wire in the multiplug on back of light cluster to check? I think it's the bulb with 2 spots on the bottom. One for tail light, other for braking (correct me if I'm wrong).

  • Volvo S60 handbrake 15 May 2005 (Forum)
I've test driven an 02 plate S60 2.0 T (5spd manual) this morning, and the only thing I could really find fault with was the handbrake action - when applied it didn't actually engage the brakes immediately. This meant that when engaging the handbrake and then instantly releasing the footbrake there was a small movement from the car before the brakes came on. Is this normal? The saleman seemed to think that it wasn't an issue.
  • Cavalier handbrake problem. 15 Apr 2005 (Forum)
I have replaced the rear drums and shoes, both sides, with new ones. I have adjusted the self-adjusters. The n/s brake locks on a gravel track at low speed, the o/s one does not - it still comes on though. What can I do to balance the braking effort? I need an MOT most urgently!

  • New road wheel bolts? 16 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I have a VW Mk2 Golf. I recently suffered the problem of a sheared brake caliper bolt, I got a garage to drill out the bolt and re-tap the brake housing thread. The caliper bolt was always tight and I assume that the bolt had weakened due to thermal load and constant undoing and retightening.

  • Heel & Toe Gear Changing 11 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Having a bad day and therefore deciding I don't want to talk with anybody, I was instead mooching through old threads and I saw a reference to the above. Now, I suppose this is probably trying to use the throttle & the brake at the same time. Although braking and gear changing seems like something you'd only do when slowing down and a whole lot of work. Q1) Is that right ? Q2) Why would you want to do that ?
  • Mazda CX-30 - Brake fluid change! 9 Sep 2023 (Forum)
Took my car to the dealers this morning for its 3 year service and first MOT. I was asked if I wanted a brake fluid change which would be an extra £100. I said that I would have thought this would be part of a service at some point but they said it wasn't, it is just recommended that the fluid is changed every 2 years.
