Fun to drive but thirsty

I bought my punto from a friend because I needed a 5 door car and this one was fitted with the same not quite 100hp engine as fitted to the Sporting model. Being the eleganza, it comes with electric everything including air-con and a cd player. Even though it's a bit longer than the 3 door, it's still fun to drive and takes corners at almost any speed but unlike the 3 door, visibility and interior space are better. The only bug bear in have with it (apart from rust now creeping into the back arches) is that it struggles to better 35mpg even if when it's driven nicely. From talking to other punto owners with this particular engine fitted, this is as good as it gets sadly. My view is that it's a small price to pay for the privilege of (occasionally) putting BMW and audi drivers in my rear view mirror.
