Orders open for Toyota Prius Plug-In

The new Prius Plug-In is now available to order from Toyota dealers with the first cars set to arrive in July. It's priced at £32,895, but this drops to £27,895 thanks to the £5,000 Government grant for electric cars.

Like the standard Prius, the Plug-In version is powered by an efficient full hybrid system but thanks to rechargeable lithium-ion batteries can cover longer distances and reach higher speeds on electric power. As a result CO2 emissions are just 49g/km.

Unlike electric cars there is no range anxiety as once the batteries run out, the Prius switches to its hybrid system. It can be recharged from a standard domestic plug or at an on-street charging point and comes with a five-metre cable that's stored in a dedicated area under the boot floor.

There is just one equipment level for the Prius Plug-In and it comes with LED daytime running lights, sat nav, a rearview camera, Bluetooth, DAB radio, automatic wipers, cruise control, heated front seats, a JBL sound system., 15-inch alloy wheels and a leather steering wheel. Black leather upholstery at £1500 and rear privacy glass priced at £270 are both options.
