BMW 5-Series E39 (1996 - 2003) - 97 3.5 Mileage fault, reads 999,999!!

97 3.5 Mileage fault, reads 999,999!! - beamer boy
Hi, I'm new to the forum, thought I knew BMW's, but this fault has me stumped!
The battery went flat due to a charging problem, now repaired, but when I restarted it the odometer reads 999,999! I don't know whether this is a new fault, or whether it needs to have it's fault codes read by a specialist.. the true mileage is 111K.
Anyone else heard of or experienced a similar problem?

Disconnect the battery for 10 mins and re-try.hth
