Secondhand Sump - Pug 306hdi - ib141

Hi,
If anyone read my last thread you will know I am new to the site and don't know much about cars, especially my 2001 306hdi, that seems to mystify me allot lately.

Q). Have got a cracked sump and have spoken to Peugeot and they want to charge me £150 for the sump. Then had a look on the net and found a couple of places that do 2nd hand bits for pugs and they've got the sump I need for £50. Is it a good idea to get a secondhand sump or should I spen the extra ton and buy the one from peugeot??
Your thoughts please.

Hi there, I would go for the second hand one. as long as it is in excellent condition, and fit a new gasket it should be fine, cheers, Graham.

I would go secondhand too!
As Graham said, if the condition is ok you'll be fine. I have a Combo Diesel Van and these are prone to corrosion after stones hit the front and then they leak. A secondhand one of these is about as useful as an ashtray on a motorcycle : 0 (
