Crazy Radio on Honda CRV - jasco
The radio on my wife's 2002 Honda CRV 2.0 has developed a fault whereby it does not power off, even when the ignition is switched off and the key removed.
When this happens, nothing will disable it - and the volume/on-off control is inoperable, i.e. turning it does not alter the volume and depressing it does not turn off the power.
The only solution is to disconnect the battery. When the battery is reconnected, and the radio code re-entered, it will work again for a period, and the fault will then recur.
Has anyone encounetred this problem? Is it a fault with the radio, or is it in the car's electrics?

Sounds like the radio is faulty,I think if it was a wiring fault a fuse would have blown, but could be wrong?

Sounds like a fault with the radio and a potential fire hazard !

Any other electrical faults on the car?

Would strongly suggest immediate action (remove or isolate radio) and have it checked/replaced.

A month ago I had a similar problem on my 7yr old Clarion - when turning ignition off the backlight stayed on although there was no sound - turn ignition on and the last station tuned to played but nothing else worked -volume -channel change -CD - as the car is fitted with a good Clarion system I took head unit out and took to local Electronic repair centre - it cost me £50 to be repaired - they said it was a chip or something gone - it now works fine and was much cheaper than a new system as the Clarion CD changer would not work with another head unit.and it would have meant re-wiring parrot hands free unit as well.
