Audi A6 Alternator causing probs? - Nsar
My car doesn't like starting when it's warm. I have to use the throttle to get it to fire and then it just dies. It's an auto so I have to keep revs on with right foot whist using left foot on brake to select a gear and it seems a little unsure about selecting the gear. When I release the brake pedal all is fine, although it does feel a bit hesitant when I pull away from a junction - just a split second delay between throttle and motion.
Talking to an auto specialist he suggested I may have problems with the alternator spiking.

Any thoughts?

I'm dubious about the alternator spiking theory. I would investigate the throttle position sensor(potentiometer), or warm up regulator valve (assuming its petrol).

Thanks for the reply. Is it normal for the voltmeter to be showing 14+ volts when the engine is running?

Shouldn't go higher than about 14.5 Volts. Check it with an accurate DMM, rather relying on dashboard voltmeter, which may be a bit out of calibration.
