Tow bar removal - Passat tdi - McPherson Strut
I'm due to replace my car (Passat tdi, Sept 01)and the lease company have said I have to remove the towbar completly. Undoing the actual retaining bolts seems easy enough but it looks like I need to take the bumper off to actually slide the bar away from the chassis but can't see how the bumper is held on! Can anyone help!

Sorry I cannot help with your removal question but I would recommend once removed you will be able to sell the tow bar on ebay for about £100.

If it is like my Passat, there is a large chunk of foam plastic and steel somewhere that needs to be re-inserted under the outer 'bumper' skin when the towbar is removed. Mine is in the shed.Simply removing the towbar is not a good idea.
