Peugeot 206 - 1.4 - Dick Wood
Has anyone had experience of sudden power loss which clears after stopping for 2/3 mins.
This has recently happened twice on the motorway and once on a roundabout on leaving a motorway - on that occasion the engine auto diagnostics warning light came on briefly - since then the light has come on again several times accompanied by erratic engine revs (up to 2000 with foot off the throttle).
The car is under warranty and is going into a dealer in the next day or so but my experience of dealer diagnostic efforts is not good so any external advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Dear Dick,

There was a problem with 206 1.1s whcih was subject to a recall (see car by car breakdown). And Peugeot has had a lot of problems with ECUs. Please keep us informed what happens. And any other readers with 206 running problems, please let us know. You're the eyes and ears of the 'car by car breakdown'. I can't find out everything on the auction floor.

The problem was identified as a faulty throttle position sensing device. The unit was changed and the car seems now to be ok.
I will keep you posted. I did wonder if this may be a common problem as the fault was intermittent and was not evident when the car was driven to the garage - they did however ring through very quickly with a diagnosis - although getting the spare part took another 24 hours!

Fault is back so possibly changing throttle position sensor not the answer. Car back in garage awaiting further verdict.

Car now well - garage pronounced there was a fault although diagnostics indicated system was ok.
New coil box and ECU fitted.
