Just read an article by a blind person who says that EVs can be a real problem as they can't be heard if the sound device isn't on. What are the rules concerning sound devices on EVs? Read more
To be honest it's not just electric cars, if I'm driving slowly down a town/village street with lots of pedestrians milling around many people simply don't hear my 1.4tsi Superb. It's very quiet creeping along at low revs, I think it still has most of the under-bonnet soundproofing also fitted to the diesel versions.
I also have a 1.4tsi Superb, it is quiet engine wise sittong on the inside. But if you were to step outside you would find it quite noisy engine wise compared to other cars particularly some japanese cars. Louder than some modern diesels....
This looks very attractive. We (as in my family) had a couple of R5s back in the late 1970s. Great cars although corrosion was a problem. However, most cars rusted back then, it's one aspect that the makers seem to have sorted.
That's the standard Stellantis 136ps motor with the 50kwh battery. You can have this with your Renault 5, or a Citroën or PEUGEOT 2008 or Vauxhall Corsa e or the new Vauxhall Mokka e and probably a few other 'flavours'.
No it isn't, Stellantis has nothing to do with Renault. ...
Hi,
I have read somewhere that you do not need to fit beam deflectors to projector headlights (when driving abroad)? I understand the need for deflectors as I have driven in the EU for years, but never used projectors before.... Read more

Hi Everyone,
I am based in NE Scotland and driving for almost five years now. Never had a speeding ticket and would very much like to keep it that way. I am a stickler for speed limits, never underspeed and where safe keep to the top end of the speed limit. ... Read more
I saw a brilliant response from a car in Spain once, sadly one that we civilians can never hope to emulate. (Not even with one of those programmable rear window mounted LED signs, ahem.) A yobbo in a tuned Seat Leon with a couple of friends on board decided he was king of the road and charged up the backside of a nondescript Fiat Brava millimetres from his back bumper as the two cars headed out of town on a single lane highway which had a 50 km/h limit for the first few hundred metres. The driver activated a pop-up LED sign that suddenly flashed the heart-stopping words GUARDIA CIVIL into the driver's face. The ashen faced driver tailgated no more.
Driving gloves or steering wheel cover ? whats recommended? Read more
Got to be a cover then. Can anyone recommend a decent one as opposed to one of the offerings found in various cheapo shops please.
Only time I've ever even thought about a steering wheel cover was a present for my Mother in law. But that was for the opposite problem, her hands were getting cold, so I bought this purple furry cover which she absolutely loved. In fact she was thinking of putting it on her new car (which has a heated leather covered steering wheel!). ...
Transport for London has today launched a public consultation to increase the maximum fine on the capital's Red Routes by £30.
It looks set to be the next sting on drivers in the capital following last week's announcement that the temporarily increased Congestion Charge of £15 will remain in place. ... Read more
It was meant as a lighthearted jest, but there was a single objection.
