Forum Road tax
colsan

I recently bought a Skoda Fabia from a dealership and with the deal was 6 months road tax paid for by the garage. However, due to steering wheel problems it went back to their garage to be fixed but was really disappointed by the lack of customer service and how I was made to feel like an inconvenience for enquiring about how long it would be until I had my car back considering I only had it a few days previous.
Over two weeks later, I ask for a full refund when they said that the car was miraculously fixed but it wasn't and I was given a full refund and I even had to sort out the part finance agreement which was a complete headache and they should have resolved it on my behalf so I was told.

My issue however is that the dvla have sent a cheque to me (in my name) for a refund of road tax and the dealer are becoming quite aggressive and everyday asking for their money back!!
I'm so annoyed about the way I was treated that I'm dragging my heels about it!

Bearing in mind that the cheque is in my name, would you give them the money back or not??? Am I breaking the law? I just want to give them a taste of their own medicine really!! Read more

if you are financially out of pocket then approach the garage to have your costs made good, perhaps you will settle for the value of the road fund licence refund

Hi .I have recently had a full service on my Toyota and since I have noticed that the fuel economy has been significantly reduced. I have had a diagnostic check and no faults found. Looked through Toyota members threads and a lot said it was EGR. So I cleaned and still no difference. Was wondering if anyone has had this problem or any further advice would gratefully recieved? A son bought the 2016 model of a 320d M Sport 4wd list is about £36+K and he paid £29K at dealer No4 inc a few extras - car was ordered to a spec and not an ex- showroom car.

Other BMW dealers tried to sell del mileage old model, Sport model, 3 mth old "old model" & fairly high APRs - they all wanted more ££ than Dealer 4 who also beat them with a much lower APR....

Hi-

We bought an 04 plate XC90 in Feb 2012 with 65000 miles for £10k. It's been a great car and fairly trouble-free apart from suspension work (bushes, arms, ARB links, etc) which I suspect are down to a combination of age and the godawful roads around these parts.... Read more

If your are refering tot the XC90 bevel gear assembly issue, that did fail on some it has to said, it should cost around £500 give or take a bit which is about the cost of fuel it used to my weeks holiday in scotland about 2 years ago. So relivetively if you can afford run one, then the issue is rather minor.

It's a good point as many of the more off road 4WD systems don't do town driving well and Landrovers had there fair share issues too. If you do 90% town use then a Honda style 4WD copes better....

Just wondering what people are thinking about the referendum. I will be voting to leave the EU. Read more

I think the French President has done a great service to the 'leave' side with his comments this week. British people generally do not take well to being threatened by Johnny Foreigner so the fact the French President, the US, China & all sorts of other overseas big cheeses are threatening us with the 'consequences' of leaving bodes well for the leave side and those of us who want an independent democratic state.

I used to think the 'leave' side should get more airtime, but I've changed my mind. Just keep putting stuff like that on telly and more and more people will vote to leave.

My central locking and radio mal-functioned. Car is 8 years old. Mercedes tell me antenna has malfunctioned and only way to check is to remove (and probably replace) rear windscreen at over £800 plus VAT. Have already paid over £90 for diagnostic and key battery replacement. I cannot believe Mercedes would design a car with an antennae that can only be reached through the rear windscreen. An antennae is not a consumable and has been placed in an almost inaccessible place. Surely this must be a design fault? Can anyone out there help me, please? Read more

Before you spend out the £800,I would get somebody to check out the fuses in the luggage compartment fusebox. There is a 7.5 amp fuse that controls these functions.
