I have a 1.8tdci and would be grateful if anyone could tell me where the fuel filter lives.
Is it under the car between the fuel tank and engine or is it conveniently in the engine bay?
Thanks in advance for any replies. Much appreciated.

Captain, be carefull when changing a Focus fuel filter. You have to fill them with diesel, or the car won't start. There is no bleed tap.
I have been looking all over the internet for a picture of where the Glow Plugs are but I cannot find anything. My car is very poor at starting, once it goes it drives like a new car despite having just done 200,000. can anyone help please. thank you Read more
Excuse my ignorance, don't run modern diesels.
Hello
I have been out of the country since before the cold snap. Is it safe to start the (petrol) engine of my 2008 Roomster?
I have not put antifreeze in and cannot find the details of the car's first year's service but hope there is some antifreeze put in at the factory. Would I be correct?
Any advice welcome
Thanks

many thanks to both of you. I checked the radiator hoses and they seemed soft (i.e. not frozen solid) and just took a short run. All seems fine.

I've heard all the unscientific opinions of laymen, but has anyone anywhere in the world come up with scientific proof that driving over speed humps can categorically lead to road spring failure? Read more
If European manufacturers rolled the ends of the springs properly and had suitable anti-corrosion coatings we wouldn't have such a problem with broken springs - Japanese cars hardly ever suffer this fate coz their springs are of a much higher quality.

Designing a speed hump is not as simple as you might imagine. tinyurl.com/ye2a3go Read more
I have read of a hydraulic speed hump. This device would respond according to the
speed you traversed it.
Yes I remember seeing that years ago. It was a sprung inflatable "bag" with the vent sized to fully deflate if driven over up to the speed limit but not if going faster. You simply changed the vent hole size to match the speed limit.
As you say probably too expensive, and also easy to vandalize.
There was a recent post on the subject of calcium batteries, where a car's LCD low battery display was mentioned. As a low mileage driver I would find this feature extremely useful, and wonder if it is common on cars built more recently than my 2002 Mazda6?
Thanks.

I'm assuming you just need to clear up the mess.
