The clutch pedal is a be squeaky. How do i solve this? Is it a case of oiling the pedal inside the cabin or is it more likely to go via the cable into the engine bay? Read more

I had all 4 tyres replaced on my car couple of months ago. Last night I took it back to the garage which replaced the tyres because car was quite jittery. They thought it was balancing so took off both tyres and passenger side tyre was almost bald from inside. So I got front tyres replaced.
I've noticed car has been making a strange noise every time I go over the hump and the sound comes from passenger side front tyre.
What you reckon the issue is? I asked the guy who replaced the tyres for me and he said it could be "bushes". I did a bit of googling last night and it could be ball joint? I don't have a clue. Please help because I want to sort this out ASAP, don't want these tyres to go soon either.
Wanted to bring Vectra to work this morning but car just won't move. It seemed as if the handbrake was on so I locked and unlocked handbrake few times but without any luck.
To top it all I forgot my badminton kit in Vectra because then I had to bring Mazda to work. I had a bad start to the day today. :( Read more

My corsa had an MOT advisory stating that the NSF droplink had play in it and also the tyre was worn on its inner edge. I assume the droplink problem was the cause of the uneven tyre wear - the OSF tyre was fine.

My wife owns a R registered Ford Fiesta Ghia with only 50,000 miles on the clock. Excellent car and she does not want to scrap it out!! BUT ...... it keeps filling up with water!!! It seems that a design fault on this model means that water that goes down the gully in front of the windscreen cannot get out via the drain holes and when heavy rain is experienced overflows into the car soaking the front carpets.
Has anyone else had this happen and is there a cure out there?

My 1.6 Golf was serviced 2 weeks ago at VW main dealership and since then, on 3 occasions, when I was braking quite sharply, it feels as though the bottom of the car by the brake pedal is scraping the road. As it happened for the 3rd time today I'm definitely going to get the garage that serviced it to look at it, but in the mean time, does anyone know what might be causing this?

The reason I ask is I don't trust the garage 100% - they managed to crack the windscreen of my car during the service and only when I insisted that the crack wasn't there before did they go and ask the mechanics what had happened and it transpired that it probably happened when the car was coming down off the ramp.... they are paying for insurance excess, but their initial reluctance to take responsibility for this makes me cautious.

It's a petrol automatic model.

Warped brake discs most likely misssunshine81, caused by keeping your foot on the brakes when hot - for example at the end of a motorway slip road whilst waiting to join a roundabout after stopping from 70mph. You only have to do it once, and the brakes will judder forever more afterwards. Some cars are more prone to this problem than others.

New discs and pads the cure.

Some advice, please, for an enthusiastic driver who, although not in the first flush of youth, still likes to keep his car clean and as mechanically sound as possible.

Can somebody please come up with a method to clean (and polish) the inside of a modern car's windscreen without causing acute muscle strain. Windscreens are now so sharply raked that trying to polish them from the drivers' seat is almost impossible without suffering the aforementioned muscle knack. The obvious place to stand in order to get some leverage is outside the car alongside the windscreen but, of course, the door gets in the way.

Any ideas? Read more

I have a very fine Spontex e cloth, it feels like a piece of very fine suede or chammy. I use It for spectacles mostly but it is very good at removing the film that seems to appear on the inside of one's windscreen even when there are no smokers in the car, ever! A coarser e cloth would probably do as well - something like a terry towelling texture

Hi,

Friend's Mazda 323 blower speed selction control only works on setting '4' (maximum) Positions 1 (minimum), 2 and 3 don't work.

We've considered the fuse but as it still works on one selection it's unlkely to be that. Possibly a lose connection?

Any ideas welcome :-)

Thanks.

High BR's - a little advice if you please?
SWMBO realy wants to have a new car. Current 06 Grand Espace 2.2 CDi Dynamique, 45,000 FRSH. We have loved this car. However we no longer really need a full 7-seat version so are looking at C4, new pug 5008 and Grand Sceinic. We know that p/e values will be poor but we have a plan. Our friends have a s-reg Espace, which they too like, but they can now get ours for whatever trade offer for it. In addition we also know another a couple with a P-reg 806 which is pretty abused, but runs. Plan is friend 1 has the 06 ESpace, friend 2 has the s-reg Espace, and I take the 806 as the P/E to offer against new or nearly new smaller 7-seater, possibly as scrappage.
is there anything I need to consider in this? I realise that scarpage means getting friends name on log book first, but I'm okay with that.
Unless of course anyone wants any of the above...... Read more

I would not want to sell a car to a friend unless they understood clearly that the car was sold as seen and I had NO responsibility whaever for faults after they got it AND they were a friend I would be happy to lose.

My father did once and regretted it.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated here. The front near side suspension has started to make violent creaking sounds - even just by lifting the wheel arch up and down, or sometimes just by turning the steering wheel. Needless to say, when driving over a bump it's even worse. The best way I can describe the sound is like somebody moving around upstairs and you can hear the creaks through the ceiling., except much louder.
I'm not certain what to look for when I take the wheel off and put it on the jack, so I would be grateful for any help. Read more

You don't have to hit anything they just break. Probably due to the general dicline in the quality of modern cars.
