A friend of mine has a 306 Hdi 2.0ltr
Who Broke down on his way home from work. He called the RAC and they told him it could be a faulty relay or a split wire. He also tells me that he took off an Injector pipe and there's pressure there, no problem with the pump, etc.
So where or what could this relay the RAC say could be faulty. Or could it be the TDC sensor or anything else etc.
Any clues what to check for.

Hi all
Buying a new i20 for SWMBO under the scrappage scheme. Getting a very good deal at £2,400 off list price.
I ordered the car at the end of April and we went to the garage today to provide the evidence they need for the old car - aiming to pick up the new car end of this week. Anyway, as they want a banker's draft several days before delivery, I thought it not unreasonable to see our new car in advance - to check for marks, dents etc. (I had also mentioned several days ago we would want to see it, so they knew we wanted to).
Anyway, went out the back and found the car. It was covered in filth - sticky sap, bird droppings etc - so bad there was no way I could check for marks. Also, had a look on the windscreen and think the car was built last November, so already 6 months old. (I guess with the downturn in the market that having a new car made 6 months ago is not unlikely at the moment).
Have to say I felt a little disappointed to see the car in that state. What's all this I read about not leaving sap on the paintwork? And I thought new cars normally came in some sort of protective wax which was taken off before delivery?
I'm intending to say to the dealer that we are not very happy with its state and expect it to be in pristine condition when we pick up. Should I also be asking them to check on things like tyres as the car has obviously been sitting around for a while?
Am I being unreasonable here? Read more
is your source impeccable? >>
Well I have quoted two sources above - one is HJ's news column, and the other is Hyundai's website.
So which one are you asking about?
But then this is the innernet, innit? LOL and all that!
Hi - 93 Fiesta Petrol 1.1 - how can I check my oil pressure warning light is working ok. I cannot remember if it used to come/go out or flash when starting to show bulb is working but notice I had not seen the bulb lit for ages (if at all). Bulb is ok as have checked this by removing and replacing. Also disconnected the oil switch connector on engine to see if it came on but it did not. Sure the answer to a regular bulb check at every start up is simple but cannot figure it out and the handbook is not much help.
Any help welcome. Thanks Read more
More than likely to be a fault with the pressure switch. If you earth/touch the wire to the engine block with ignition on,then the light should illuminate. If it does then the switch is the problem.hth

1st of all this is my first use of a forum so please excuse any faults, I own a 04 reg 307sw 1.6 110 HDI. My problem is I am trying to remove the rear upper centre brake light to replace some bulbs. I have followed the manual and also a haynes workshop manual, these tell you to use two screwdrivers and press down on some lugs beneath some trim inside door frame to release the light unit. I can only "feel" one lug (cannot see inside), when I press down it makes no difference and the unit wont budge!
Has anyone had to do this piece of maintenance and if so, any tips/advice? Read more
my sisters escort has the worst brakes ever although the discs and pads and shoes are fine the brake pedal remains really spoungy, the handbrake works great though.
all have been bleed
so i decided to upgrade them by fitting mondeo mk2 calipers and discs theses are much bigger and required some minor modification but im still unable to get a good pedal seems like the front pistons are creeping back a bit from the disc rather than staying tight against it.
just wondering has anyone had the same problem or can help in anyway

can confirm the servo seems to be working peadal will soften when engine started as for all the brakepipes all 4 flexibles are new and for those who are saying the standard brakes should do the job i wont dissagree with any one but they were terrible they were not even strong enough to make the car skid thats why i decided to upgrade them i just cant get arroung this spoungy pedal, thanks
Looked at a Rover 416 today which is ideal for us but there does seem to be a problem with the excelerator pedal. The pedal is heavy and nothing appears to happen until you reach the last inch or so of "foot to the floor." Has a new MOT, but wondering if this is a real issue, or something easily repaired Read more
Probably in need of a new cable - a very easy straightforward job to replace. You could probably get one from a Partco or Motorist Discount Centre. None of the Rover 200/400 range is known to suffer from a heavy throttle. You haven't said if you are buying private or from a garage - but if from a garage you could make an offer for the car on the understanding they replace the cable.
Hope this helps
Hi can anyone help? saxo 1.5d misfires/runs rough bluish smoke. It does run better the more it is reved. The only obvious signs are air bubbles in the fuel lines inlet and return. It seems worse the hotter it gets. misses now and again on idle. new fuel filter fitted, the old one had rust in it? wondering if the lift pump may be damaged? Read more
Hi, totally agree with you, its finding it? as its not an outward leak. I am going to rig up an auxcillary tank to the fuel filter, at least this will elliminate all pipework back to the tank, or prove where its not coming from. Trial and error again. The things you do for other people. Thanks again
I'm having difficulty following the fitting instructions that come with Metro Beam Benders Ultra deflectors. If I apply the smooth side of the lens down onto the adhesive film as shown at Part 1 (the flat edge of the lens is now at the bottom), I need to rotate the lens through 180 degrees to install the lens (to a 56 reg Honda Civic) as shown at Part 2. The flat edge on the circular portion is now uppermost - not at the bottom as shown. Part 3 gives fitting instructions for LHD vehicles visiting the UK and states that the flat edge will now be uppermost.
Where am I going wrong? Does it matter whether the flat edge is up or down? Read more
I agree Tom - I recall once writing a long but not very complex script for field engineers to do some computer upgrades. I had my daughter, then about 10, test them, and they worked perfectly. Until the so-called experts got hold of them of course.
Glad this problem is resolved.

Good job it was a dry day else I reckon at least half the hogs would have broken down and the other half would have stayed at home

I have a similar problem with my HDI the relay is behind the battery.
Its a right pain to get to I have moved mine to the side of the battery and left it loose.
When it doesnt work I just give it a tap, this does the trick but I wouldnt recomend it as a permanent fix as im sure there is the possibility of an electrical fire.
I am looking for a proper fix to this problem, as usual the dealers havnt got a clue and blame the lift pump in the tank which works fine!
