I'm having difficulty following the fitting instructions that come with Metro Beam Benders Ultra deflectors. If I apply the smooth side of the lens down onto the adhesive film as shown at Part 1 (the flat edge of the lens is now at the bottom), I need to rotate the lens through 180 degrees to install the lens (to a 56 reg Honda Civic) as shown at Part 2. The flat edge on the circular portion is now uppermost - not at the bottom as shown. Part 3 gives fitting instructions for LHD vehicles visiting the UK and states that the flat edge will now be uppermost.
Where am I going wrong? Does it matter whether the flat edge is up or down?

Hello Smokie - many thanks for your reply.
Yes. At section 1, the 'flat' is at the bottom. Rotate the lens through 180 degrees to position it as shown in Section 1 (with the smooth side still down), the 'flat' is now at the top - not the bottom as stated. Do you think it matters? Or am I missing something?

Second sentence of my last post should read Section 2 of course!

The diagram in the above link is for LHD cars in the UK. They should be tipped through 180degrees for RHD cars.
If you take the diagram to show the benders tapering to the left then on a RHD car it should taper right.

Fitting for left hand drive vehicles for use in the U.K are shown at the bottom of Section 3 -"Attach the BEAM BENDERS® ULTRA as described in the steps above, but rotate them 180° around the dip beam bulb so that they are to the left of the headlamp. The flat edge on the circular portion will be uppermost".
Not so actually - the flat would be at the bottom.
So I assume that the main instructions are for RHD cars in Europe.
But I still can't figure out how to get from Section 1 to Section 2.

I can see your problem with diagram 1 being the reverse of what you see in diagram 2.
I think I misread the instructions re: RHD and LHD vehicles though looking at diagram 3, the adhesive for fixing to the headlight should be on the reverse side from that where the beam bender has been stuck.
I don't like using these things, much prefer the perspex covers with the deflector painted on though not all manufacturers do these.

Problem solved - courtesy of Saxon Technical Director.
The lens is actually held in place by the 4 tabs of the clear adhesive film. After Sect 1, the lens, with backing, is turned over so that the ridged side is against the car, with the smooth side facing forward protected by the adhesive film. Now it all makes sense!

Writing instructions isn't easy. I once had to do some and tried my best to make them 'idiot proof', so I gave them to my boss to trial:
Boss: Where do I start?
BT: What does line one say?
Boss: Press 'ON' switch.
This was across a crowded office. ;>)

I agree Tom - I recall once writing a long but not very complex script for field engineers to do some computer upgrades. I had my daughter, then about 10, test them, and they worked perfectly. Until the so-called experts got hold of them of course.
Glad this problem is resolved.
