Having sold my daughter's Fiesta to a nice couple we sent off the documentation with their details on, not keeping a record of it. A long lost second key for the car has now turned up and we'd like them to have it. Any way we can recover the buyers' details? Read more

I've only recently thrown away the Moggie Minor key we found when we bought the house thirty-odd years ago. We had a new kitchen, and it was in THAT drawer.
How do I know it was for a Moggie Minor?
Back in the sixties, the PO had 'one key fits all' for its fleet. I can't remember the number now, but I recognised it. Perhaps someone else may recall the number.

My wife has seen mention of a tax disc sticker with 'I love my Ka' on it and wants one for her Ka. Does anyone have any ideas wger to buy one ?

The Ka BTW is her first vere car and after 4 years she is still over the moon with it. No trouble at all and dirt cheap to run. Read more

Haha...brilliant

I can't find a sticker through Google for you, but I reckon if you got in touch with the Ebay user Stickerbods, they'd be able to suggest something for you.

Husband lost his keys on Friday, someone obviously swiped them & came & took his car early hours of Tuesday. The police rang 11.30am on Tuesday to say they had found the car & it was back at their garage but couldn't tell us anything about the damage etc just that they had to fingerprint it. We informed insurance etc, had the locksmith out cos our door key was on them. They rang back later with the crime no. but stil no information was know about any damage, if the keys were still with the car, when we were likely to get it back and then thats when they informed us we would have to pay £100+ to get the car back when we came & got it. They didn't give us the option of collecting it ourselves, they haven't even said where it was found. We rang back Tuesday night to be told we wouldn't incur any further charges while it was being kept there but they had a long line of cars to fingerprint so would get to ours probably within 2-3 days. We are now on Thursday, still no news.
I want to know if we can dispute this charge they are making as we didn't ask them to recover the vehicle, we could have gone & collected it ourselves had we been given the option as we have vehicle recovery cover. Any know where we stand with this? They said we could claim it back from insurance but as the excess is £100 we are even more out of pocket because of this, it cost £100 in excess to change the locks on the doors.
If anone can give me any ideas on this I would be very grateful cos I think it's out of order for them to just assume they could charge this amount without asking what we want to do.
Thanks, Sam Read more

a laughable response

im on the side of ordinary bobbies doing their best BUT

we already pay for the police to investigate crime and associated costs

damage caused to car by fingerprint powder is i am afraid down to the police to sort out

and having scum garages screaming at me when all im doing is asking when i can have my car back does the police no favours

Northumbria police on the other hand have been great when ive had cars nicked in their patch

I saw one and fell in love, I dunno exactly but it's the old shape from 1950 - 1960.
Like this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_W120

I thought it had D1 on the back but it must be my memory and it must have said 190D

Do you know any websites which have one available? So I can see how much were talking about.

Oh forgot to say, How about finding one abroad, like Cairo or wherever? Read more

Did you mean the page entitled Traffic Calming in the Roads and Transport section?

www3.hants.gov.uk/trafficmanagement/trafficcalming...m

If so, I see what you're getting at. They cheerfully acknowledge that speed humps and traffic calming are designed primarily to inconvenience road users, and that installations frequently annoy people, cause potentially dangerous damage to vehicles and injuries to their occupants, but then state almost in as many words that none of this matters because traffic calming Makes Motorists Slow Down and is, on this basis, a Good Thing.

And they finish off by saying, in effect: "Thinking 'I gotta get me some of that?' Call this number..."

Great.

Why o why can we not have more of this "shared road space" idea that the French and the Dutch seem to able to make work without any fuss?

I realise that this has been touched upon previously but thought i'd ask again as there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer to the problem.

The batteries on the keyfob on on my 98 1.9 dt go flat after a week of replacing. As far as I know the keys are i/r. Did also take to an auto electrical place who couldnt find a fault. It does work until the batteries go flat.

I've had the problem for ages and have just used the keys normally as when i rang peugeot i was told need new key.

Is the key duff? I did read somewhere you can get a second hand key and reprogram using the spare key. Is this true?

ANy help would be appreciated, would be handy getting it working again. Read more

>>Except in F1 and MotoGP! Losing regularly to a tiny outfit like Ducati must annoy them silly.<<

I thought they had one of the most powerful engines in F1 - the chassis and aerodynamics are pretty bad - like their drivers really.
I recall Honda were pretty annoyed when they restricted revs to 19K and must be wondering why they are bothering now there is a total freeze on engine development.
A big step backwards in my view. I don't understand why they should be limiting any engine development in a high tech sport. I can undertsnad them controlling certain driver aids like traction control etc though.

Coincidences or what?

3 weeks ago I bought a new car from Motorpoint. However,my son wanted to buy a set of mats/boot liner for my birthday.

He phones up a local Nissan garage to me and asked about the mats/price - £50 for mats, £75 for bootliner and they would need to order them - a bit steep as my son had bought an X5 bootliner for £50 the previous week.

Looked on E-bay - saw Holdcroft in Stoke - £30 mats/£50 bootliner +£6 del = £86 - delivered next day.

Friend coming up to Scotland breaks down Nth of Bham in a 2yr old SAAB - gets pulled off M6 and taken to Holdcroft Stoke SAAB Dealership on a Saturday morning. They diagnose problem, order parts, arrange a car hire (AT SAAB expense).

Tuesday PM Holdcroft SAAB phone and arrange for this Saturday to get the car back & return of Hire Car.

Neither our friend or I knew of Holdcroft (or Stoke for that matter!) until the last 2 weeks.

Praise where praise is due - Holdcroft are A1 for service opn the evidence of the above. Read more

About £150-170. Anymore and your being had. Rover main dealers used to charge about £400-500 back in 2002 when I was working at a dealer.
