If you want to see for yourselves leave all search criteria bland but teh Keyword Search 01512 - you will also get a few gebuine looing adverts as well but the "bargains stick out" from the rest Read more
I was just reading an article near the back of Autocar this week by James Ruppert.
He was talking about a change to the VAT fuel scale charges - what is this? I ask because it starts off about road tax and then goes on about VAT and it didnt seem clear to me what he was on about but maybe I just missed the boat. What has VAT got to do with road tax?
He was suggesting these new rules would be a problem for pre-2001 cars.
Just foxed me a little!

Might apply to me in the near future (going into business and ending up VAT-registered), I'll have to look into that! Might be time to do what I've been thinking for a while - sell the good old Almera and buy a van, for which all expenses can be VAT-deducted. I wondered why my accountant was so adamant that I needed a van! ;-)
Hi all,
can anyone advise I have a range rover classic 3.5 EFI that runs on LPG when it starts from cold the choke kicks in and revs at aprox 1500 once warm it ticks over normal at about 500 revs but when you brake it wants to stall as the tick over drops right down. however this doesn't happen all the time it often runs sweet .
thanks

The road from Dorchester to Sherborne and several subsidiary roads were closed this morning for a cycle race. Loads of cars had to be diverted, in some cases involving an extra 10 miles or more to get to their destinations. The event must have been legal as several police officers were assisting. Since when have motorists been banned from public roads for the benefit of non-licenced, non-Road Fund payers? This was the first time I have seen it happen in about half a century of driving. It's better for the roads to be closed than what often happened on country road runs years ago. One suddenly met a dense clutch of the blighters, eyes down and sterns up, coming round a corner and across most of the road!
Just dropped you an e-mail. Let me know when you've read this so I can make it go away. Read more
Have a look at the reply BP.
When changing gear i.e clutch down the car sometimes over revs, the car has also become quite jurky as if its miss firing, though this could be plugs/ht leads etc.
Does anybody know what this could be? The car seems to idle perfectly fine and never stalls.
Could the two problems be connected?
The car also runs far too hot though this is a separate problem.

its only done 62k so even on a Ford OVH engine I would have thought it was unlikely, engine is very quiet but the previous owner told me the tappets were adjusted when they did the MOT.
Not sure what is causing the over revving though.
Either way it looks like that perfect car has turned out to be a shed :(.
In December I replaced my headlamp bulbs when the LHS one blew. The replacements are H7 Osram Silverstar 50% which were, as promised, significantly brighter.
The LHS one has gone again.
Is it likely there's a fault causing the same bulb to blow, or is it coincidence? The car is a 2000 Accord.
And what bulb is recommended for longevity and brightness?
Cheers. Read more
Check the reflector unit is not loose and popped off it's adjusters as that shakes the bulb filament over bumbs. Also check the shock absorber is not failing and tight. Bounce test side to side comparison. Regards Peter
i recently bought some new alloys wheels from www.alloywheels.com/ (im not shaming as their service was good)
and a nice set of wheels they are..but i think ive found a problem..on friday in my haste, i fitted these lovely wheels to my car.Today ive just removed one of them to paint the calliper :D and ive found that they centralise on the wheel nuts and not the centre location bit..i obviously bought these as wheels specific for my car, so they are aware they are for a misubishi fto..
is this correct? is it wrong?? is it safe?
or would an easy way out of it be for me to make a sleeve at work to loacte the wheel properly???(i am an engineer so its quite easy)
thx for any input

Anyone noticed how even the most modern Jap cars, especially grey imports, have very cheap looking retro fit fog lights hanging under the back bumper? Even properly fitted into the bumpers or rear panels, you can tell they're not factory fitted. Are they not a legal requirement in the land of the rising sun, or do they simply not have fog in Japan? Read more
Twin rear foglights used to be commonplace, especially in RHD markets, but some research *apparently* showed there was less confusion between brake lights and foglights if only one foglight was fitted. I seem to remember a LOT of confusion when late model Citroën BXs and Sierras suddenly swapped brakelights and foglights over, to pair up sidelights with foglight(s) and leave brakelights as separate units.
Whilst carrying out the annual service on my 1999 Focus, I was amazed at the amount of rust. This is heavy flaking rust on most of the rear suspension and 'sub-frame' bits as well as the brake drums. The body itself is fine, and the car has always had an under-body hose down after each winter.
Does anyone know if this is normal, and whether it could be a safety issue. The car has always passed the MOT without comment, the last in January.
Many thanks

I was alarmed how much surface rust there is on my Almera - the front crossmember is covered, and there are the beginnings of bubbles on the inside of the wheel arches which I keep meaning to sort before they spread. The rear brake-pipes are also a mess and will probably need replacing for the next MOT.
Focuses seem to get away lightly compared to similar vintage Kas and Fiestas - I was surprised to see a V-reg estate the other day with a very rusty tailgate. Saw a P-reg Ka a couple of years back that was unlike anything I've ever seen before or since. An absolute rot-box.

no apology necessary, as all i wanted to check was that i was not missing something obvious or being being stupid !
