My horn has stopped working on my 2001 Honda Civic. First ever problem with the car. My three year old daughter has taken a great interest telling unsuspecting people that Dad's car has no beep beep ! I have failed my children !

Any advice on what it could be and how easy it is to fix would be welcome. I have checked the fuses but there does not appear to be one for the horn ? I noticed a Mazda 6 owner has had the same problem in the last couple of weeks - A dodgy supply of Japanese Horns perhaps.............

if you have a multimeter use the continuity function to check all fuses. good quality fuses will have two metal ends sticking out of back of fuse casing to help with check

Slightly inaccurate recollection above. My son had a very apologetic phone call the day after his first premium was taken,THEN the termination letter, which would be rather harshly worded,he was told, and apologies for that.
To be fair, they were relatively quick with the refund--but not quick enough for me not to have to pay another large credit card deposit to set up alternative insutrance with Direct Line.Is it not true that if you pay by credit card for goods and agree a refund, the company involved can return your money direct to your card, rather than waste time by posting a cheque?
A poor show overall, and the little guy in the chainmail gets my toenail clippings right in the eye next time he ventures onto my TV

IN Glasgow merchant city yesterday an Aston Martin DB6 Superleggera in dark blue. Really truly a thing to behold, of great beauty and a superb fusion of Italian Beauty style with classic English elegance. The owner must be so proud. Just don't make them like that any more do they . . . . Read more

Occasionally pass Merchant City and see some very beautiful cars, but never actually see them anywhere else, as if they just appear there and disappear again!

They maybe come out of the private parking for some of the penthouse apartments!

Hi I am hoping someone out there might be able to help me?

A women reversed into my Picasso on Weds morning causing some minor damage to the lower off side rear door and wing. There should be no problems with getting it fixed on her insurance as she has admitted liability and good job too as I was stationary at the time!

However when I am presented with the list of approved bodyshops from the accident management company (Angel Assist), how do I choose which one? I live on the Somerset / Devon border so they are likely to be in either Exeter or Taunton - does anyone happen to have any experience of a good 'shop in this area that might be on this list?

Also I know it was discussed in another thread recently but am I right in thinking I should be offered (or have the right to push for!) a similar courtesy car, ie a mid-MPV? Thanks in advance, DB Read more

Make sure, if your car is reasonably new, that the repairs are fully covered and do not invalidate your manufacturer's body warranty. i.e. Citroen approved repairer if not the Citroen Franchise itself.

My car was 2 weeks old and it was bashed - 5 years later rust appears on the back door and the Honda warranty was not valid as it was done by "Ins Co Preferred Repairer".

3rd party Ins Co said - 5 years is beyond our 3 yr warranty - I said I should have been put back in position as if no accident had happened.

i.e. No Accident then rust would not have happened or Honda would have paid if it had.

Their insured was to blame and I faced a bill for rust due to their insured and their repairer.

In the end they paid for a respray of the back door as I said that I would get the job done and then claim on them in Small Claims Court.

Evening all,

can anyone tell me if its worth purchashing 5 series BMW on a 92 plate upwards for about 1300 quid, was looking at a 525i or something. Think they look great but had one a long time ago and the thing had that over heating problem. Which think was a cracked cyclinder head. I gues what i am asking does anyone a 5 series that does not have a heating problem and How can I tell if it has one in a test drive

Cheers

Yes great cars. radiators go. If antifreeze mix is incorrect, engines silt up.

Drive up a few hills in 4th gear at 60 mph... if it is going to overheat that should do it... and then idle it for 10 minutes...

Useless in snow and ice.

I found this on the channel4.com site:

"Like Volkswagen, Renault is predicting a swing in consumer preferences back towards petrol engines when the Euro V legislation comes in. Diesel engines will have to become more expensive, with more sophisticated emissions control devices such as advanced catalysts and particulate filters, and customers may not be prepared to pay a for it, particularly in smaller cars."

So what does the panel think? Diesel had its day? Come back petrol - all is forgiven? Read more

As said above, the only thing that would shift UK buyers from diesels is another change in company car BIK tax .... that's what took me from my old Volvo V40 2.0T (which was a brilliant company car under the old list-price based tax rules) to a Passat B5.5 PD130.

Yes, the PD diesels are gruff and the effective rev range is relatively narrow. But the sheer get-up-and-go makes them very effective on the road, if you don't mind the clanking :-)

Also, you can't whack the VAG diesels on economy .... just done Alnwick (Northumberland) to Cheshire, 4 up and full boot, on-the-road average speed 61mph, and 51mpg.

There are a couple of other DeLorean threads active at the moment, so sorry mods if I should have appended this to either of those.

I was wondering if any backroomers have or have had a DeLorean and can review the car please? Just the car, not the politics. Guess it's a school boy request really

Thanks

i had a delorean about 1985 but the flux capacitors were so expensive to change
it became inhibitive to travel in it

Think outside the box...

If you'd travelled back in time and deposited some cash in a savings account you could have bought all the capacitors you'd have ever needed.

As soon as I can get my hands on one, I'm going back to the 90's to buy some lottery tickets.

I noticed that Halfords have their own brand oil on special offer, five litres of 10/40 SL spec semi-synthetic for £15.99. Seems a reasonable price for average cars. May buy a couple for the next 6 month oil changes. Does anyone know of a better deal? Read more
