There are a couple of other DeLorean threads active at the moment, so sorry mods if I should have appended this to either of those.
I was wondering if any backroomers have or have had a DeLorean and can review the car please? Just the car, not the politics. Guess it's a school boy request really
Thanks

I've repaired and driven a few of these - including a right hand drive one, which allegedly aren't too common.
For a brief review, they're rubbish.
It's about 15 years since I drove one, and my memory doesn't allow me to give a detailed review. The emotion that dominates my thoughts is simply one of disappontment. The cars aren't particularly fast or sure footed. The looks of the car and the performance of the car are completely mismatched. The acceleration sluggish, the auto gearbox saps too much power, and may be better suited to the American market.
The fit and finish of the interior was quite poor, as was the panel fit. On one of the cars, I remember spending the best part of a day setting up the doors to open and close nicely, and to line up with the body - nightmare!
The underpinnings were also rather rough and ready - the engine layout made some jobs incredibly difficult. Getting to the exhaust manifolds was particularly troublesome if there was a leak.
IMO, these were truly horrible cars, made worse by the fact that the stainless steel bodies didn't rust away.

Bought one or won one in Gran Turismo 4 - manual version - though it didn't handle too badly - needed a suspension kit to get the best out of it thouh - with some engine tweaking -it was quite fun.
Sorry - couldn't resist it.

Wasn't allowed to drive it - but it is horrible to ride in. Windows feel like arrow slits in a castle, felt very insubstantial - and you could never park in a carpark!!

If Andy (who owned it) is reading this - kiss kiss - sorry but its true!

Did you hang around with Michael J Fox as well?

Very fast backwards, though... :-)
Eddie Jordan was filmed driving one on BBC4 last night, and he wasn't very complimentary either. Not surprising that the fit and finish was a bit rough, though, given that it went from drawing board to production (in a completely new factory) in under 2 years. Strange that it was finally undone by the weather in the US...

Think outside the box...
If you'd travelled back in time and deposited some cash in a savings account you could have bought all the capacitors you'd have ever needed.
As soon as I can get my hands on one, I'm going back to the 90's to buy some lottery tickets.

I can well imagine! A fibreglass bodyshell clad in stainless steel panels - what genius thought of that? :-)
