BMW 5-Series E34 (1987 - 1996) - Buying advice

Buying advice - Harry Pearce
Evening all,

can anyone tell me if its worth purchashing 5 series BMW on a 92 plate upwards for about 1300 quid, was looking at a 525i or something. Think they look great but had one a long time ago and the thing had that over heating problem. Which think was a cracked cyclinder head. I gues what i am asking does anyone a 5 series that does not have a heating problem and How can I tell if it has one in a test drive

When I look at a car to buy, i start the engine straight away and leave running during inspection
and leave running after test drive,if it dont overheat in that time it should be ok.

I would be suspicious though if engine didnt heat up in that time though...

Yes great cars. radiators go. If antifreeze mix is incorrect, engines silt up.

Drive up a few hills in 4th gear at 60 mph... if it is going to overheat that should do it... and then idle it for 10 minutes...

Useless in snow and ice.
