Can anyone tell me where the electric window buttons are on a C Max Zetec please? Are they on the door or between the seats.

Many thanks,

Rear parking sensors are an option. I got them for free on my C-Max as part of the deal-clincher with the dealer. I'd say they're essential. Visibility while reversing isn't that good through the relatively tiny rear window. It is a lovely car to drive though. Very comfortable.

i was always told we drive on the left in britain because of days gone by when a knight would be able to defend himself better with his sword hand( right in most cases) agains an attack from oncoming enemy, if this is true whay does most of europe drive on the left, they had swordsman as well didnt they? P plate Golf 1.6. Replaced throttle position sensor due to worn track but this has upset the tickover, I recall mention on here of a recalibation procedure for this. Any clues anyone. Regards Peter Read more

Thanks Peter for your reply, it is a pity that I am not more proficient with a laptop, I was hoping you just removed a battery lead.

Looking around established internet outlets it's perfectly possible to get an 06 06, low mileage, high spec E Class Mercedes 280 for £20k. Seems unusually cheap for cars of this brand. I haven't for example, been able to find any comparable Audi A6s.

What's the explanation for these Mercs losing so much of their value so quickly ? Read more

How does the braking problem manifest itself ?

Xileno {P}

It may produce more bhp but it produces considerably less torque.

Yes you are correct and this can make for relaxed driving. I have recently come back from the Auvergne where I spent most of a day charging up and down twisty mountain roads. Great fun and third gear would take me everywhere.
Diesels are also much quieter and more relaxed at motorway speeds unless you are telling me something I don't know about Renault diesels?

At higher speeds I would agree particularly as many of the Renault dCi's now have six speed gearboxes (mine doesn't). At lower speeds pottering around town and at idle especially when cold there is more noise. Not intrusive or irritating (and miles better than the VAG TDI's in this respect) but definitely noisier.

The Renault dCi engine offers a great blend of economy, performance and refinement. But at 10K a year I am not sure it was a good decision of mine.

Hi all!

Is anybody attending the mentioned event on the 12th - 13th this month?
Have you brought any weird items from there or have even perchased a classic vehicle from there in the past?
Will be going there myself on the 12th as i do every year going to have a look to see what's in store this year.

Excellent day out. The workshop is behind the main museum area and all sorts of interesting things go on in there. The mechanics are helpful and full of 'background information' but during the autojumble weekends the workshop is closed, the reason being that the mechanics are on duty as security men in the museum. It seems that many autojumble visitors take advantage of the availability of badges, lamps etc on the exhibits and pinch whatever they can.

My 1.0 1994 Micra is running very rough, this mainly happens at over 30 mph and it seems to be a fuel supply problem as it will be ok and then be very jerky, when you put your foot to the floor nothing happens to the accelaration, the injection fuse is ok but the fuel filter looks like the original, car has 70K on clock and uses Esso all the time however it does very low mileages maybe 50 a week, any advice would be appreciated, would it be prudent to change the fuel filter and give it a dose of injector cleaner . The filter does look like the original as its marked Nissan, the car runs ok on idle does this discount the throttle body job, oh and more evidence it conked out on me on a quite steep slpoe and was a real pig to get going again.

Well just the other day I test drove the 2.0 petrol manual SE Lux, and then the 2.0 diesel automatic SE Sport.

I currently drive a 2.0 MkV Golf GT and I have to say that the 2.0 C30 was well rubbish. You *really* had to work it to get any kind of performance out of it.

Also I felt that the SE (and therefore SE Lux) look of the car was incredibly mundane, whereas the sport actually looks the business.

I can't really comment on the diesel auto as I am allergic to both diesels and autos, but the ride is definitely better in the sport.

Also be wary of the colours, the 2 tone "white with brown" is actually a pale green with brown. The pearlescent blue was hideous, however (rather surprisingly) the FREE red passion colour on the sport was stunning.

I did have to say that I found the dealership to be pretty good too, I know he was there to get my money, but even so he was courteous, able to supply all the answers and honest about the car.

The other concern for me (even as a "single" bloke) is that the boot is miniscule and the lip is extremely high - if you don't pack light for your hols then I'd suggest sticking your suitcase in the backseats or investing in a pulley system for the boot :)

Oh - here's another strange thing - they all have the little sharks fin on - when quizzed though the sales guy told me that they don't actually contain an aerial unless you opt for the built in GSM phone.

Oh - and the S spec is pants, at the very least pay the extra and get the SE.

I posted a while ago about a small rust problem around the rear wheel arches on on my '2000 C220. Well Mercedes have returned the car with a top class job done on the problem having given me a car to use while mine was away and all done under warranty. It is refreshing in this day and age for companies to give such service. Only downside is I have no excuse to offer SWMBO as to why I need to go out and buy an SLK............ Read more

Which for a Mercedes from the "rust bucket" era would be the only sensible thing to do.

There is no fix for a rusty car body - the rust will be back.
