Anyone got one of these? Are they any good for cleaning monobloc, especially where I wash the car and the blocks have became discoloured with brake dust etc . Read more
I am going down to my girlfriends in the middle of april and may have to take, her, her mum, and her grandma from Northampton to Oxford and back for a day out.
The problem is that I have an old P Reg Clio and it has a lot a hard plastic around the interior. I want to try and rejuvinate the interor so it looks as new as a 10.5 year old can.
The question is what products do backroomers recomend/use. When I go to Halfords on wednesday I feel I will get to view a large selection of products all with so much advertising guff I won't know if I am picking up potentialy damaging snake oil.
I need a good cleaning agent to start with, to clean the steering wheel (discusting), gear knob, vents and door panels. Second I want to make the plastic look better.
Any suggestions?

The idle speed of my Peugeot 406 HDI (1999, 68,000 miles) will not drop below 1000 RPM making driving difficult in slow moving traffic. The local Peugeot agent is unable to help despite charging £70 for connecting it to their diagnostic computer.
Any ideas please?

This is getting a very messed up thread. The advice to the OP was specific to a '99 diesel HDi.
There could be many different reasons for a petrol one idling at an incorrect speed; without the exact year and engine code, there's no way of even telling what system of idle control it's using. PSA use many different suppliers of management components and they all do it their own way.
I will shortly have to replace the disc pads and understand that three different manufacturers supply the full brake assembly to SEAT and that replacement disc pads are not fully interchangeable. The caliper has FS 111 or lll on the casting. Can anybody help by identifying the manufacturer?
Thanks

Hi mate try to measure the diameter of your brake disc and then match up the parts. Please see the video below how to replace them on seat ibiza.
Criteria:
Cheap as poss to insure
Cheap as poss to tax
Simplest possible mechanicals hoping for best chance of reliability, servicing
Ideally last a year or two!
Performance, image, refinement, glamour, toys all utterly irrelevant
Mission: Car must complete 2 mile almost perfectly flat journey @50mph to station and back. Car will live outside until it dies.
Thoughts?

How about a Morris Minor? Nil VED, classic car insurance on a 2500 limited mileage very cheap, all parts easy to obtain, and easy to maintain. Nil depreciation if cared for. Will cost more than £1k, but the reduced overheads should make the higher cost well worthwhile.
heating fan has stopped working( great when trying to drive with misted windows) removed fan got it running the controller panel seems to be working (graphics all lighting & moving ) I need to know if there is a relay panel or control panel hidden in a cunning place.
Also is there any way of testing dash control panel Read more

Thats interesting and has made me Indecisive again!! A case of "Don't judge a book by its cover" eh?
My parents are looking for a small town car, mainly for my Mom to drive. It will replace her much loved f reg Nova!
She wants something similar in size and around either 1.0 or 1.2 engine size.
Possibly an automatic - though I guess that would only come with a bigger engine?
Should also be easy to get in and out of.
What suggestions would you all have? Budget is around £4500 so looking used. Mileage will be LOW!!! Probably only 3 or 4 thousand a year at most.
I had thought about either the previous generation Yaris or the current Fiat Panda?

C1, 107 and maybe the Aygo are available for the money. Auto available too, but more difficult to find. Easy to get in and out of due to raised seat position.
My catalytic convertor needs replacing due to mechanical failure after only 4.5 years, Audi want £600 to do this. I have found a pattern one on the internet for £78 but am unsure of the quality, has anyone any experience of pattern cats and any recommendations? Thanks Andy Read more
Thanks for the advice I will check it out.

Not for me - but that's because there's none there anyway, I must get around to fixing that.
If it's loose sand you've got between blocks, then I'd be very surprised if it's all still there when you've finished.
