Babygotoo

Hello,

Other than spraying liberally and soaking with Plus Gas for a couple of weeks, does anyone have any other tips or tricks to releasing two potentially stuck glow plugs in a ?96 C220 diesel.

Regards

Now all I need is some help from the National Lottery this weekend. Sounds like just what I want!

This surprises me too HJ. I'd be interested to see/read/hear how this is substantiated.

In particular, it will be interesting to see how these cars perform in real crashes. In comparing steel and aluminium, the concrete wall impacts typically used for type approval can flatter aluminium because aluminium can allow local penetrations with very little energy absorption.

Statistical outlier

Right, I just got made redundant (as in escorted from the building along with all my colleagues). Not unexpected, and possibly even a good thing (if things work out), but, I need to consider all options. So.

I may be left with no job, and with a lease car I've only just acquired personally on PCP that will be surplus to requirements and beyond my means if things don't go well. So, as far as I can see, I have three options (maybe four).

1. Keep paying for the car on a monthly basis and just lump it.

2. Try and renegotiate the lease to a longer, lower mileage deal, which I believe I can do.

3. Try and sell the car and put up with the difference between what I make and the total of what I owe each month. Will make some loss but will be annoying rather than disaster.

4. Something else.

Does anyone have any ideas about this. At the moment, it's on a 3 year, 35k a year deal, which if work stuff doesn't work out, is far too expensive.

All ideas gratefully received.

Gord.

Probably won't help with your specific query, but check this out:

This quote was in another thread today:

"My wife's car was hit by builders truck - wife in correct lane, builder in wrong lane, but in statement to his insurers he says he's in correct lane ,wife in wrong lane. Insurer never checked lane markings and even suggested we accept 50/50 blame."

I have seen several other posts in a similar vein.

It implies that if someone is in the wrong lane they are at fault if someone drives into them. I cannot see that is correct.

I see plenty of drivers who approach a roundabout in the LH lane and then proceed to drive a full 270 degrees around the roundabout to take the third exit. Clearly they approach the roundabout in the wrong lane and for at least half the circumference they remain in the wrong lane. However regardless of fact that they are, nervous, unfamiliar with which exit they want or just plain idiots, I would still consider myself at fault if I changed lanes and drove into them.

I remember a Police Inspector in a court case where I was a witness telling the accused that he should have ascertained the other driver's intentions and not made an assumption on his intentions. It seems to me that applies here.

The law regards a roundabout as havinf anualar continuoes markings around
an island wether they are autaully there or not. If the
other vechicle changed lanes i.e. crossed a line weather real or
not then he is responsible. Regards Peter

were having real trouble starting our bus on these cold mornings ,the colder it gets harder she is to start ,we think we must have a glow plug prob, the 50 amp fuse is fine and there is a good feed to this point ,the next problem is the glow plugs are a real swine to get to ,what is the easiest way to check them and how, any suggestions would be a great help ,once started shes fine all day but when left over night the problems begin, weve even had to tow her once because the battery drained trying to start her and within a matter of yards she started, its only started doing this in this very cold weather but if we leave her until later in the day when it warms up a bit she will start but with a struggle Read more

I have a 2003 Citroen C5. I have owned it from new and im thinking of keeping it for several years.
When it was brand new i complained to the dealer about lots of clonks, bumps and thuds coming from the rear of the car when driving over small bumps.
They attempted to fix this problem by injecting "expanding foam" into the the hollow box sections which run either side of the car under the floor of the boot.
Seemingly this was a Citroen approved fix at the time. The can of foam even has a citroen part number.
What could i expect the long term effects of this foam to be? Im thinking particularly about drainage or ventilation of the hollow sections being blocked up. Is it likely to cause problems? Read more

I had new spheres fitted and it cut most of the rattles from the rear. Not especially cheap, and I am nowhere near the 5 years or 100k mile "no maintenance" claim by Citroen.

Now I just have a squeak on the rear suspension, not sure where to oil though!

Not sure I dare ask this in light of previous posts....

My 406 has started making a low 'brrrrrrr' noise which seems to come from the fuel pump on the engine. It started intermittently but now seems to do it all the time, but the car runs fine.

Any clues as to it's cause? Is it likely to be a sign of internal damage - cue big bills? I notice there's a drain plug on the pump, would it be worth draining and refilling or should I leave it alone?

As usual, advice gratefully recieved.

I have a 2002 renault megane 1.9dti which has started to make a banging noise from behind the centre air vents. This only occurs upon start-up and lasts for about 10 seconds. Any ideas?

Tried my local Mitsubishi dealer (Hinckley, Leics) to see if they knew anything about HJ's article advising these prices-they did not, nor do Mitsubishi themselves according to the vague reply from their website.
Any one know who is selling Colt Reds at this price? Read more

I read in my local paper that the Colt was Northern Ireland's best selling car in February, with 394 sold. Apparently a dealer in Belfast is giving away Caribbean cruises with each car. I can't imagine they're 6K plus cruise though.
