Sorry all; this must have been done to death. How can I find out if a specific registration number is still out there on a vehicle somewhere, or if it has been returned to the DVLC? I know about form v888 & the £2.50 to get the details of an active reg, but I was hoping there was a way to find out if it was still active before going that route.
Thank you all so much.

Hi All
My girlfriend would like central locking supplied and fitted to her Ford Ka (1998), preferably with remote, and the cheapest she has been quoted is £180 which seems pretty steep to me.
Anyone know a decent place or places in the North East we can try?
Thanks

This is a Ka right? Why does she need central locking? Its only got two doors anyway!
Does anyone know if 2-3 ay test drives are available, and if so where from. I am looking at buying a 7 seater, preferaly with luggage space, with reasonable towing capacity (trailer with cars upto Mondeo size). It would be diesel, - something like the following:
Galaxy/Alhambra /Sharran
Pug 807/Citroen C7
Maybe KIA /Hyandai for some sort,
merc vito / vw transporter may also be an option.
May consider a 4x4, but potential bigger bills and more cumbersome nature a turn off.
Will probably end up buying 2nd hand, don't really want to go through losing a lot on depreciation etc.
But wanted to test the cars properly, and would like to see how they handle towing, so would like to drive for a couple of days at least.
Any ideas? Not tried the dealers yet, but is this reasonable or am I going to be laughed at....

When I requested an extended test drive from a local Main Dealer of a major Japanese franchise, they said that they had withdrawn the facility after one of their cars was seen being driven at high speed into handbrake turns in a local car park late at night.!!!!
With pond life like this around, who make it bad for the rest of us responsible motorists, you can understand dealerships reluctance to continue this service.!!!!!!
Hello there,
i know this forum is about cars, but i really need to get this blade going, so help is really appreciated.
I have a 1995 (M) Honda fireblade 893cc, it has a manual choke,
due to the recent cold weather we have had, i have had no time to ride it! I cane to start it yesterday, (it's had a new battery) and it would just turn over and backfire. The choke is fully out and i have checked the new battery, it is able to start a 2003 blackbird i have, so there are no problems with it.
I think that moisture has probably got into the engine. I was wondering if there was any way that it will start without strippin the thing down and replacing the plugs??
any help is appreciated
THANKS

As suggested elsewhere, you must drain the float chambers.
I am in the process of replacing my wife's Yaris with a new model (T3 5-door 1.3l). I cannot get any discount off my local Toyota dealer's list price of £11,120.00. However, on the internet and Autotrader I have come across Costcocars offering the same model for £9,620.00 (choice of colours and less than 40 delivery miles on the clock). I have been told I can collect the car from a particular authorised Toyota dealer.Has anyone used this company, and if so, did everything run smoothly? Anyone have any ideas how they can sell at this price? Could they have been damaged in delivery etc. Look forward to your responses.

pmh. Had a look at this site and the pricing of the Yaris was almost identical. However, to achieve this price I had to enter into a £5,000 credit agreement at 12.9% with a Toyota dealer, although I could cancel it after 4 or 5 months. Why complicate a deal - I have the cash, and do not want to mess around with credit deals. But thanks for the website - I will add it to my favourites.
Is there such a thing as an extesion for the rear seat belts in a Honda accord saloon 54 reg. I do not have a fat passenger but need to secure a dog crate on the rear seat.

I just can't seem to get comfy in my car, I'm not sure why. My right leg ends up aching no matter what I do. Some positions are comfy for a little while, but I haven't found 'the one'. Shame as the engine is well suited for long trips. I find either my knee or ankle ends up uncomfortable.
It feels like the whole car is to far over to the left. It's hard to explain, but the aceelerator feels to far in.
Is it possible to convert normal pedals to the 'organ' type?
Does anyone else have problems getting comfy in their car?

>>I think one explanation can be if the underside of your leg just above the knee is resting too hard on the front of the seat. >>
That was exactly the point I made earlier in the thread and which was believed to be the actual cause...:-)
Many people believe that having a car seat that's soft and comfortable is the ideal, whereas it's virtually the opposite in that the seat needs to be firm and supportive.
Try a German model such as from M-B or BMW and find out what I mean. You can drive all day in these cars without discomfort and feel as fresh when you arrive as when you set off.

Hi
I need a rear bike rack for the rear of my Espace, can anyone recommend a decent model for 2 bikes? There are plenty of them but quite a few seem poor quality.

Bobby what model Thule do you have this would suit me perfectly as the swan neck towball would take the weight.

I vaguely recall that it used to be the custom for drivers (in the capital) turning right 'across each other' to pass offside to offside. This was supposed to allow a less-obstructed view of oncoming traffic. Outside London, this practice was almost unheard of.
It is many years since I last drove in London (no bad thing in itself!), so can anyone tell me if this practice has gone the way of the dodo? Certainly, most road markings at junctions would seem to preclude it.... Read more
Left side to left side is the rule in Australia. Many large junctions have traffic lights with right turn filter lights which let two streams of right turning traffic go in opposite directions. When I last visited the Uk I very cautiously did a left side to left side right turn and the motorist coming in the opposite direction gave me a very surprised look. I was going very slowly to be safe so there was no danger of a collision but his look made it quite obvious that I had done the wrong thing.
