My partner and I have two insurance policies and one car. Mine is for the car we both use and his is used at the moment for his daughters' car. If we cancel his/my policy and then (sometime in the future) buy another car, do we have to have two policies if the cars are registered in both our names? Read more
I declared my old banger sorn and had it off the road for about 2 months. Do I need to do anything to put it back on the road apart from buying a tax disc. Is there any form you need to fill in to let them know you're on the road again or can I just buy a tax disc and then drive?? Read more

Why do you think the problem is elsewhere than the pcb?
1999 T Reg SKODA Felicia 1.3 LXi 5 Doors, Estate, Petrol, 75,000 miles, Green. one previous keeper, low road tax £1,295.
I have seen this for sale, am quite tempted as it seems good VFM. Am I right that this is basically VW engineering? I am interested in a good solid reliable workhorse that won't cost too much to keep running. I am not concerned about what it's like to drive (unless it's really horrid)
Yes or no? Please advise.

Re the old Skoda engine, have a look at www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=18754
especially the comments by Flat in Fifth.
In the last year, I've travelled to Singapore, Japan, Bahrain, Australia and several cities in the States. It seems everyone is at it, foglights blazing in clear weather, sidelight and foglight combos etc.
In Japan, the manufacturers all seem to be adopting very large low slung "driving lights" as standard. They look like large foglights to me, and certainly dazzle oncomers. It seems the incorrect use of these lights isn't restricted to the UK but has now become a worldwide fashion. Looks like we'd better get used to it!

On my '94 Passat you cannot switch on the rear foglights unless the front ones are already on. The light switch turns clockwise one notch for sidelights, two for headlamps. In either of those positions, pulling the switch out one notch turns on the front fogs, pulling out further adds the rear fog.

Ordered a new car via broker. Car is at dealership awaiting my cover note so they can tax and deliver it.
The insurance company sent the cover note to the broker in my name but showing the brokers address.
The broker says that when the dealership goes to the post office to get tax and do the first reg' document, it will be rejected as the address shown on the cover note, i.e. "My name" care of "brian" at "Company Name/address" is not the same as the address on the new registration document.
The insurance company says it does this all the time and never heard of such a problem.
I have never heard of this, and have just received the policy which has my name and NO address on it.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Yep the vast majority of dealer now use the AFRL system where the car is taxed by themselves during the registration process. The only time things get complicated is if a private reg plate is being transfered in which case t has to go to the local DVLA office.
Hi guys,
I desperately need your help. I bought a ex-police car (Astra 2.0 DTi 52 Reg) and the gearbox has completly gone, the casing has broken.
I've spent the last 3 weeks trying to find a used replacement but nobody in the whole country has an F23 AG Gearbox.
My last hope is if I can find out where police cars that are scrapped, go to, just incase I can ring them up and find one.
Hope you understand how desperate I am, as otherqwise I will have lost £2000.
Please can you help? Read more
No luck at the transport office. Have a couple more places to ring, but I am really getting pink fluffy dice offed by the garage my current car is at.
He just wpn't give me a straight answer to what it will cost, not even a quote, so I'm stuck in limbo I think I will jsut take the car out of that garage. Should he expect me to pay him anything?
Hi
its diesel with 215K on the clock and has recently developed a rattle between 1-2000 revs when accelerating in all gears, after 2000 it seems to disappear.
Revving in neutral doesnt reproduce noise and its not rattling at tickover..just when under load. Fairly noticable with radio off as well
does it sound like chain is rattling and now in need of replacing??
thanks in advance Read more
i think I did ask a while ago, however then it was rattling above 3000 on full throttle (still does but learnt to live with it) - this is a different rattle.. more quiet (need radio and climate control turned off) but is definately there and worse since the 500 mile drive i did last weekend! - as soon as turbo kicks in at about 2000 revs it disapears
Got it booked in tomorrow so hopefully its not going to break the bank (trusty mechanic doesnt think its the chain either) however if its pistons/little ends I think I would rather it be the chain :-)
Where can I purchase a celebrity sat nav cd for my MB 320 command system. Im fed up with the up tight german lady with her broken english "you vill now turn right" Im not even sure you can purchase such a CD for the command system but if you could I would want Peter Kayes wonderfull Max & Paddy " Can u here me now" "Turn right u fool!"
I can see this becomming as big as mobile ringtones as sat nav ownership goes up and prices come down

Hello Again Chaps ('esses'),
I know that there are many different variations on the post 2000 Mondeo diesels but can anyone confirm that there is a '5' speed manual TDCI 130 ZETEC ( 2002 ).
Reason I ask is that I thought that all of the 130 diesels came with a six speed box.
Having never driven one how can you physically tell the difference between the 115 and 130 models,
all the best
