Hoping for some advice from the fountain of motoring knowledge...
I'll be selling my Leon Cupra soon (53 reg, 43000 miles). I had a low speed shunt last summer (2004), which went through insurance and the bonnet & front bumper were replaced. Now, the garage did a smashing job, and you wouldn't know it'd happened. When a buyer comes along, am I bound to tell them about this? I'm an honest sort, so will probably mention it anyway, but I'd like to know the legal position.

Just bought a used 406. Previous owner must have used as a humidor or something-reaks of nasty cheap cigars. Now I'm expecting the dealer to sort this, but I'll bet it'll take more than one go. No ash in the car. Cloth interior.
What's going to fix this for once & for all? Think I saw in the post about flies something called Nutradel??

However, I can't take the credit - it was advice first proffered by another forum member earlier this year (just can't remember who offhand) with regard to vehicle A/C smells and bugs, who pointed out the fact that Neutradol (the original product of this type) was vastly cheaper than the £12 plus Comma equivalent aimed at car use.
I tried out the suggestion at the time and it certainly worked for me.

With the increase in fuel prices, are LPG conversions becoming more popular?
As some of you may know, I have a 3.4 (petrol) Landcruiser Colorado. Now in the interests of fuel costs alone it may not be worth my while to do a LPG conversion; With an annual mileage of around 10-12K and assuming I'm only going to keep the car for another 2 years or so, I might not recoup my initial outlay.
On the plus side, looking a few years down the line, it may be easier to sell on with a LPG conversion, it may even be the only way to sell a large petrol 4X4......which got me wondering whether it may be worthwhile after all.
I've done some sums over 2 years....
Current average consumption - 23mpg
(Est'd) LPG consumption - 18mpg
Mileage over next 2 years - 24000
(Est'd) avg cost of petrol - £1/l or £4.5/gallon
(Est'd) avg cost of LPG - £0.5/l or £2.25/gallon
Petrol costs - £4700 (approx)
LPG costs - £3000 (approx)
Ok, so the fuel cost saving works out at around £1700, now assuming that a decent LPG conversion is going to cost around £2K, I'd be out of pocket. Would I be able to make that back at sale? If however, I keep it longer than 2 years, I'd start to make money on the conversion.
Finally, probably the most important question, I currently have a good and reliable vehicle that I enjoy immensely, would I perhaps be jeopardising that by doing an LPG conversion? (Even with the most professional of installs, you sometimes still do hear of various issues).
Any thoughts welcome....

All interesting stuff. I ran a Nubira LPG for a year - liked the fuel savings, rest of the car wasn´t up to much. Engine blew at 100k, ended up selling it to a trader in the Lebanon for ?800. It had some problems backfiring through the airfilter and blowing off the cover, very exciting. I would give it a go if you can find a reputable converter, and a distributor near you - mine was a half mile away.

The other car is a lovely Golf Mk3 cab, which is useless for transporting a dog to Vet's if emergency occurs. Which it will, so she has to go.
What I need is as per header, smallish hatch with boot space & dead economical to run. Will be used to commute to work too, so thinking about it so much of a run about then.
What I'd like is one of those wee fast diesels that have arisen & looking through back threads I see the Seat Leon seems a better bet than the Ibiza. But, can I really justify this? If I feel the need for speed (OK, acceleration) my bike fulfils. Although a 106GTi might appeal-no be sensible!
A while ago I had a fab 205 Turbodiesel, not common rail HDI stuff, but it was great although bits did start going wrong towrds the end & the oil leak from the rear of the engine still shows on the driveway! Last of the old tech goodies I thought was a 306 Turbo Diesel-which would also suit assuming boot opens down to bumper.
Any other ideas? I know I'd like a fast one, but really I think I'd have to keep costs down & go for value for money as main criteria? Longevity & reliablilty too, don't have the time these days to be forever fixing something. Sufficient nouse to do home servicing up to a point. Suppose insurance an issue too, new 406 is a group 14. What??

Try a Skoda Fabia estate - the 1.9 TDI is fast if noisy, and the 1.4 petrol 100 bhp is lively and still pretty economical.

I've got 2 split outer CV joints - first noticed a month or so ago.
I know I've left it too long and now I have knock on turning left and right.
My garage wants to pre-order the new outer joints. I just wanted to check on here that this is the right way to go - is it certain that the existing joints are terminal if they're knocking? Read more

my fuel injection pump had to be replaced ,i followed the procedures in the manual. ihave got the cam and fuel pump belts on,it now asks to remove timing pins from fuel pump and cam turn engine twice and reinsert pins,problem cannot turn what have I done wrong? Read more
On early engines the third pin went into a hole in the block under the pump;a plug had to be removed from this hole,the engine was then turned over till the crank hit the pin and that was the position where you inserted the cam and pump pins.
Going to bite the bullet and have the timing belt, aux drive belt and CV joint/top strut bearing/whatever is making that awful grinding noise when I corner, looked at.
Can anyone recommend a good garage/mechanic in Surrey (Preferably near Addlestone/Chertsey (J11 of M25) or in Guildford)

My father has used this garage for the last four years.They have serviced his volvo fo the last four years including replacing the cv joints.They have also just serviced his passat estate,including cam belt change and fixing his air-con(required new compressor).He is very pleased with the work,cost(much,much cheaper than vw and volvo dealerships)and also the convenience(he lives just down the road)

I was making a payment from petty cash today when I spotted a 20 pence from the Isle of Man had slipped into the box.
The coin however was different from the English 20 pence in that it has two cars on the reverse.
The question is , what cars are they and does anyone know why the I o M have them on their coins ?
