Bought a CD6000 CD player off EBAY to replace tape player in our transit. Swapped over no problem, but can't input the code as described in the manual.
Display is showing 'CODE' and the other part where the digits(.. .. .. ..) should show after pressing the numeric button on the front is flashing. No locked message on display.
Any idea's, seems like the buttons on the front aren't working. Should the unit be left on for a period of time? Read more
Just a quick query if anyone can answer. The DCi diesel engines used in the Clio range, 65, 80 and 100 bhp - does the 65 bhp one have a turbo charger? I know the 100bhp one has one as my friend has just taken delivery of one but not sure about the smaller powered models. What made me think is that 65bhp doesn't sound much for a turbo diesel. Also are all these cambelt engines? If so then perhaps a good reason to avoid considering the difficulty in changing the belt and potential damage.

it was such a horrible car in the end that I'll be avoiding them like the plague now.
It's interesting. My last company ran a fleet of 32 1.5dCi Meganes (106 PS versions) and not one had any major mechanical problem over 3 yrs and 100,000 miles (give or take). I also have the complete service printout from our Scenic from Renault UK's computer system, and apart from two minor non-engine related electrical niggles (sunroof and door switch), the car hasn't given a single problem in 43,000 miles.
I think the EGR problems are more common on cars driven around town, which of course on a Clio is a pretty shocking limitation. Certainly all the Meganes above, and our Scenic have had regular long-ish runs from new.
But I really am sorry to hear of your problems. I've only had one thoroughly unreliable car (a VW Polo) and it's such an awful feeling.
Cheers

Right. Gotcha.
I vaguely remember on my old Fiesta seeing a balljoint although that was converted from an auto so may have been completely different.
Thanks for explaining it.

Hello
Ive got a Volvo V50 and a Vectra Hatchback
Both have 17" alloy wheels
Volvo tyre size = 205/50 R17
Vectra tyre size = 215/50 R17
These tyres are not a common size (which was a suprise to me) - people are advising to go with a 225/45 R17 tyre instead as they are cheaper and a lot more common
I've found a great website:
www.chris-longhurst.com/carbibles/tyre_bible.html
Has anone else changed their tyre size at replacement?
Is changing the tyre size a safe thing to do?

I would first ask to see an analysis of the diesel ,I doubt whether it would need new injectors or pump more likely problem are valves and head and £350 to clean the system is bullexcrement. It seems an easy way not do warranty work.As far as burning oil anything that genuinely used that much is Knackered
Hi.
I am new to this forum - so please bear with me. I have a new shaped Megane from 2003. Both the back brake light bulbs have gone (two side ones, not the one at the top back). It says in the manual to remove 2 bolts at the side whilst the boot is open. These are weird star shaped things and it appears a special tool is required.
Please help before I get stopped by the feds for no brake lights - I have the bulbs in my hand raring to go.
Many thanks Read more
Hi
One went last week, so I went and bought two new bulbs. The second went Friday evening - as my neighbour is very informative about these things, such as tyres, indicators etc. I dont THINK its an electrical problem - but could be I guess. I am going to enrole on a course in September to learn how to change Megane brake light bulbs - sheesh !
Did it work?
I'm trying to avoid shelling out a hideous amount for a new auto-boxECU on an old car and can't find a 2nd hand one. Read more
If Audi are offering you a replacement ECU on a 'no win, no fee' basis then go for it.
I've got a Citroen C3 1.4 HDI 16v SX.
It was serviced at 8,264 miles then at 21,046 miles. It's now done 30,500 miles and the service indicator is saying it has around 1,000 miles left until a service.
Now the manual says it's due a service every 20,000 miles, and all the mileage I've done from 21k to 31k has been motorway miles. It seems like there's a fault with the service indicator so I want to reset it - does anyone know the exact sequence of tricks to get it reset to add another 10k?
Thanks Rich Read more
This also works on a Picasso.
Hi,
Quick question.
I have stupidly put the wrong oil in my Renault Trafic 2.1 Diesel engine. It's a campervan so does some hard mileage.
The oil I have put in is 15w40 Castrol High Mileage oil which is intended for petrol engines.
a) will I have done any damage to the diesel engine, (done over 1000 miles with wrong oil).
b) will it be okay to leave until next change or should I change it asap, (inc. filter ???).
Many thanks Read more
Indeed, if it carries API "C" or ACEA "B" specs then it's fine for a diesel engine.

As long as it starts and runs, buy an AA membership and keep running till it drops is my advice. AA can tow you home via the scrapyard...
