Fairly brief this one, is a brand new MGTF 115 for £11K good value compared with what they were selling for before the company folded?

I seem to remember that even after they folded the local dealers were selling one year old models for this price, but I have no idea what a new one would have cost.

The price is on the road including 2 year warranty.

Is it good value, bad value, or just about average?

Not if you get HGF and need a new engine

Anyone know how successful these cars are?

Neither the appearance nor price appeals.
Does Mrs M keep her 3 series compact forever,
or even buy a newer one now?

Its nice to have you all agree with me!
I will be watching developments with interest.

If you can't get a Compact Mrs M wants a 330Ci next.....

My girlfriend is due to change her car in the next few months. She currently has a Picasso 2.0 HDi SX. She is looking for a 5 door hatch with plenty of room for her and our daughter. It needs to be reliable and reasonably cheap to run - insure, service, fill up, etc. Style is not a major factor (she says). £5,000 is the budget. 2001 and newer would be great. She likes the Picasso's ride height but I reckon she could do with a bigger boot (will have to deal with baby no.2 eventually). Must have AC & CD.

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

A Mondeo has a huge boot - so does a Skoda Octavia.

If you go for a diesel, after a 2.0 HDI in the Picasso, you need the TDCI engine in the Mondeo if you can get it (I can't remember when it came in and so how cheap they can be), and the more powerful diesel engine in the Octavia.

My '99 Pug 406 HDi has recently started what feels like clutch judder when starting off - but only in reverse gear. Setting off in forward gear is fine, even on a steep hill. I've checked the left, right and rear engine mountings and they are are secure and look in good condition. It's still on the original clutch and I've never had any problems in this area before. Grateful for any advice on what could be causing this. Read more

Hi mike I know this is an old thread but it great to see an update . I have just brought a Peugeot 307 cc 2.0 16v on 2005 plate 94 k on the clock. I have the same issue here . But mines in first and reverse on low revs . I used to smell the clutch burning in reverse mainly before I swapped the clutch over. And it seems to be doing more juddering maybe because it got more grip on the clutch. There No burning smell no more. Just judders I did notice the bottom engine mount of where the drivers side drive shaft runs through it. Is worn . Over the next few weeks before crimbo I will be replacing all 3 mounts top bottom and gearbox mount . and I will report back. This seems to be a common issue with the Peugeot range

P's I have read on other forums there are after market engine mounts what are supposed to be better ...

I have a Frontera 1996,2.8 tdi,128k,The problem is when cruising at 60 mph/2500 rpm,the engine gets lumpy and doesnt run to smoothly, but if I put foot down just a tad and run up to 70 mph it pulls lovely and smooth, but as it drops back to 60mph it starts again getting lumpy,It only seems to happen at 60mph/2500 rpm though.I tried replacing all filters and oil but no differance....Any ideas..Thanks Read more

What is it with the TV adverts about newstyle V5S?

A few months ago I was sent one for my motorbike , now on checking I find I havent had 1 for my car so I assume I will have to send it off to get a new updated one . Surely they know what has been issued, so why not just issue the remainder or is there something sinister behind it or just typical government incompetence? Read more

Despite reading the notes I cannot find a way of informing the DVLA that I have not received a new CERT without sending the old one.

(The old one is with car, temporarily abroad, not due back until September). Can any body else advise if this covered in the notes?

PS the vehicle is taxed and was last taxed using the old V5 on 29/4/2005

I'm considering buying a twin-barrelled foot pump on the assumption that it will be twice as quick, but won't it have the disadvantage of requiring twice as much force?

I have two, both from halfords. One i bought then i inherited another. Both of them get used fairly regularly without any problems. They are both over five years old(maybe newer ones are not as well made)and i find much better than a single cylinder pump.

Parts should be cheaper from Autovaux - and will be genuine Vaux.

www.autovaux.co.uk. No mention of cambelt kit prices on the site. You have to ring/email for info.

I spotted this item in the local paper. Stopped by police and subsequently a spell in jail for driving while disqualifed.

www.thisisbath.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=163311...1

A story to counter the doom and gloom merchants who claim that people who get caught driving while disqualified don't get dealt with adequately. Five months seems quite stiff to me!
