I have the chance of getting a Peugeot alarm cheap, is it compatable with my 307 which currently only has an immobiliser.
Peugeot alarm part number is 9671.ZK, also would anyone have a rough estimate of getting it fitted?
Thanks

Hello,
My first post, so, here goes...
I've just bought a 1998 Audi A4. I think its quite a good car, I've had it all checked over, HPI'ed, MOT'ed etc and it's come through ok, and it's also got a full dealer service history.
The only thing that it doesn't have the original Owners Manual, so I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me where I could get one from.
I've had a look on ebay, and wasn't able to find one.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance. Read more
Ring Audi and make something up, a relative of mine did that and got a new one free.
Hi there to everyone
I recently purchased a VW Golf 1.9TDI (with the 1Z) engine. Shortly after purchasing it I read in Honest Johns column in the daily telegraph that this engine has a known problem that the injectors wear and cause the bores to become oval.
My car had 150K miles on it, burns hardly any oil (no more than any other car I have owned) and returns 50 to 64 MPG. It also does not leave any visible smoke. I was just wondering what are the symptoms of worn injectors and how can I tell if they are worn or are wearing out? Is there anything that I can do to prolong the injector life ?
Thank you

Hi, just wondered if any of you could give any advice/ideas on a problem i've got with my 1998 escort, noticed this morning the heater would not blow hot air, cold works fine and the engine is running hotter than usual (always stays on the middle of the gauge normally).
I opened the bonnet to do a visual inspection and noticed the water level was way down(was fine a week ago),topped the water up and switched the engine on,water level dropped within a few mins and the engine temp got above three quarters on the guage before the fan kicked in???
any advice appreciated cheers Andy Read more
water pumps been changed and the water has stopped leaking but the car idles lumpy now, mechanic reckons the timing must be slightly out and will fix some time next week but is the car ok to use until then ????????
Car runs fine for 12 miles, then when idling the yellow ECM light comes on and engine tries to fail, but then picks up again. This is accompnied by lumpt idling.
I suspect a Not Present fault but wonder if the various sensors can be disconnected and bridged as a "get home" solution.
I have tried drying out and cleaning the sensor connectors which doesnt seem to help. Read more
Hi there
I'm about to go to France in the very near future and I've been told there's a switch to adjust the headlight beam for driving on the right. The headlights aren't easy to get to and I'm not having much luck - is this one for the garage to do?
Any tips/guidance from anyone who's successfully done this?
Thanks

I've just pointed them down the last 3 years and had no problems[flashes]. I think hj originally gave this advice.
Hello,
I own the vehicle above and have a problem regarding the charging system. The batteries are being fried with a high voltage from the alternator. My batteries are having the fluid boiled dry after a few days due to a charging voltage of 17v.
I believe this is to be a regulating fault but cannot find any information to help, also where is the regulator on this vehicle as on other vehicles I've owned, it has always been with the alternator.
Thank-you

I think it will be integral with the alternator. You need to repair/exchange ASAP otherwise other electrical units will be damaged. Try these people:

On my T plate Peugeot 306 HDI I have an intermittent problem with the engine management light appearing and the engine limiting itself to c2500rpm (turbo apparantly not working). The light will stay lit for approximately a day, but the lack of power can be cured by switching the engine off and back on again. There appears to be no pattern in why the light appears, but I have noticed that after half an hour or so in heavy traffic the engine will run on after switching off for a few seconds, following by the engine management light coming on the next time the car is used.
Any ideas on why this is and how to resolve it? Local garage cannot see any apparant problems. Read more
On my friends 306 hdi, I found the rubber hose joint from the turbo to the plastic pipe to the intercooler tobe split.
all is well now the joint is replaced.
I wish to buy a new car, but have to make allowance for putting a wheelchair in the boot. I want a car with flat loading, as low as possible. Also something which is not too much longer than my present Rover 200, about 4000mm, give or take 300mm, so it will fit in my garage. It needs to be automatic transmission.
I have found two which seem to fit the bill, the Ford Fusion and the Peugeot 206SW. Of these the 206 is more comfortable and suitable. However, I have heard reports that the 206 can cut out while driving. (BBC Watchdog December 2004) Do you know if this problem has been addressed, or explained. I hesitate to buy without knowing the answer. Obviously, car salesmen are very dismissive of the problem. Alternatively, have you any other suggestions for a flat loading car of about this size?

As has been mentioned the Yaris verso is available as an auto and does have both a low loading height and because of the side opening door there is no lip to lift things over.
Hi backroomers,
Had an accident yesterday. Was waiting to join a line of rush-hour traffic from a side street, when someone flashed me and slowed down to let me in (or so I thought). Next thing I knew he'd rammed me. He apologised and said he was flashing to let someone in from the other side of the road and didn't see me - his is a company car so he doesn't care whether he takes the rap or not.
Trouble is, when I phoned my insurance company, they warned me that they would be unlikely to be able to claim back off his insurance since technically I'm to blame - being flashed doesn't give me permission to join the traffic. However he slowed down too so I tend to think I have some right on my side.
Anyone any advice as to how I can avoid having to take the hit on my NCB? The damage isn't massive so I'd almost be tempted to do a DIY repair if I knew I'd have to cough up on my insurance. If he admitted liability in writing, would that stand up? I hope he'd be prepared to do that.
Thanks! Read more
Hence failure to adhere to the company policy with reference
to accidents means possible loss of car, disciplinary
procedures, possibly even the sack.
You can write to him all you like, he aint gonna respond -
its all going to his broker/insrance department

and that is the point. don't try to second guess the other driver.
that is the for the other driver to worry about.
i bought this same alarm from e-bay (sound familiar), the only way to tell is to phone the nice people at peugeot. If you are buying on e-bay and the auction has ended don't fear there are quite a few around. If this product turns out to be alot of fuzz let me know coz i haven't got round to phoning them yet and will have one to sell!!!!!
