Actually the reason I got hooked on this program was Mike.
I couldn?t stop staring at his mouth, what?s with those lips
that never move when he speaks?
It was mentioned in one of the episodes - the Aluminium car for the photoshoot out on the salt flats. He mentioned something about being a passenger in a car that Boyd was driving the last time they were out there and breaking his jaw and also paralysing part of his face, in the process.
My charming and lovely local Volvo garage, while not fixing the power steering fault my car went in for mentioned that my tyres and brakes were severely worn and would need replacing very soon.
I checked the tyres and they have 6 -7 mm of wear left, hardley severly worn; in fact new last July and I haven't really used the car much!
Does any body know the measurement for when disc pads need replacing as they look fine to me?
Thanks WipeOut Read more
There is 6mm of friction material available.
Unfortunately I have no written report, but my father in-law heard them.
It really disgust me. I have some knowledge, not much, about cars. How on earth do people with nothing protect themselves. I suppose they don't!
This was a large franchised garage.

Engine warning light is illuminated steadily. SWMBO says it simply came on when driving.A little red engine sign indeed.
Can not see any problem, and the car is running well.
Car is needed daily - is this an emergency situation?

SWMBO tok her car to a trusted little man in a local garage.
No visible loose connections or problems. Not convenient to be without a car. Will not book into a main dealer- unless a bigger problem appears. Car runs fine.

The lights on the door bottoms come on- but none of the internal ones do when a door is opened. They do work when selected manually.
Any ideas?
I'd this problem with a Golf under warranty and IIRC it involved replacement of the door lock.

it was a while ago... and I no longer have the vehicle, so I can't check this evening.I do remember lifting the door trim strip and the plastic trim panel, but my door trim strip was screwed down. I would have thought that, given the presence of the units under the carpet they should be comparatively accessible... it would be silly for them to use glue..
Mark's comments may be accurate, as my passat was a '98 model year (didn't have the 'door' lights.) I will try and find it tinight and see if it has a part no. attached. Let's just hope it's the wiring rather than the module itself...

Had no trouble during the bitter cold days of winter but, increasingly, I've had dificulty in getting the engine to fire on damp, wet mornings. From trial and error, I've found that a quick blast with a hot air gun around the engine compartment solves the problem so it looks as though dampness is shorting out something. Anyone got any hints/tips re dampproofers or other solutions? Read more
I've been driving volvo cars for a number of years now. My car at the moment is a S80 T6, I thought it was my dream car, expensive(for me anyway)6months old,10,000 miles on clock, pristine condition. Within a week I was having trouble with central locking - car taken back to garage to be sorted, Then driving on M275 car died, transported back to garage. A new computor system had to be fitted.33,000 miles on clock now 2.5 years later regular servicing etc the gearbox has just died!!! I am not a speedster,Iam a 58year old female who likes a comfortable car and was hoping this one was going to last me a few years.Over £4000 to repair, is this right after such a short time? This is where I disagree with you there Avant (respectfully of course!)
You could have a Friday Afternoon Car and that would be far more troublesome new than 6 months or even a year old. I suspect this is probably the problem with Maz's car; I can't see a) many people ragging an S80 and b) how would that cause the ECU problems.
I will never buy a car new. Never. In my opinion, it's a complete waste of money. The newest I would buy would probably be a year old with 10,000 miles (ish) on it. That's assuming I have enough money of course!
The way I see it, any niggles on the new car will have been sorted by the owner by the time I get it. (Although this never happened with Maz!)
As to how other people have driven it before me? I can't do anything about that. I let Mum drive mine and try not to think abotu it too much. Your new car has to be driven to the dealer or taken on a test drive by a careless garage worker or a person testing it who doesn't care how they drive it.
Assuming this post never existed, I'd choose a year old S80 over a new S60. I'd rather have a nicer older (to some degree)than a lower spec new one.
Just me though.

On a 1999 Terrano 2.7tdi automatic the tickover is erratic sometimes and at other times displays a "hysteresis" pattern (thrum thrum thrum like an old commercial diesel). however normal running is OK and fuel economy as normal. Car is regularly serviced so filters should not be clogged. Have tried Redex diesel in a tank of fuel without much success.
Any ideas?
Not too worried because I'm trading it in soon and the problem is probably not bad enough for dealer to notice. Read more
I have an Alfa 147
I have a fault on the satellite Navigation, the fault is:
When coming up to a turning the display will read ( for example) 200 yards then voice will then come on and say "turn in 3/4 of a mile" or display will say 100 yards and the voice will say "turn in 3/4 mile" or even "turn in 1/2 mile". the error is never consistent. I believe the display to be correct and the voice isn't.
I have taken it back to the Alfa dealer a number of times ( the last time they had it for 4 days) to look into this fault.
they say they cant just replace the Sat Nav they have to fax Alfa and they come back with a supposed solution, which seems to be a new disc update for the system.
I have finally been told by the dealer that:
Alfa recognised a fault with the system due to the system cant differentiate between miles and kilometres (as its programmed in kilometres and then converted) and there is nothing more they can do.
the dealer has given me a Alfa customer service number, which I have phoned (on 18/03/05) and logged my fault. I have told them the fault and what they have supposedly have told the dealer. I also said:
Why does it work on some but not on others?
If that were the case, surely you would get more complaints
If it was still the case, you are selling an item that does not work correctly
they have given me a case number.
is there anymore that I can do? and has anybody else got this fault Read more
Connect Nav? Does that mean anything to anyone?

I thought the 206 had a minor facelift...well - a nip and a tuck. The newer ones I see seem to have different tail lights (in the way they light up not the shape of them) and clear headlight glass?

Sadly your hopes were dashed
Yes - it was how to do it if you can add 2 and 2.
What a poor program.
I guess the researchers must drive around with their eyes shut.
