Has anyone ever seen, bought or used the tailgate cycle rack as illustrated in the Citroen Berlingo Multispace brochure? Citroen UK helpline haven't nor have the many dealers I've rung. Is it permenant or clip on? Does it even exist? Read more

I've no idea about the Berlingo bike rack but a customer of mine has just purchased a roof rack and bicycle holder for his new Celica (and before you say anything yes it does look a right state!)

According to the fitting instructions it's an easy 10 minute job - according to the well experienced technician who fitted it it was a 2 hour nightmare of a job - needed to drop door seals to get the rack to fit properly.

Hi, I'am a little nervous as this is my first time on a
website;)

How easy is it to check the cambelt on a 14d AX and what would I look for to indicate a change is required ?

Any guidance appreciated. Read more

CheapNcheerfull

madf,

Thanks for your guidance, I will try to have a quick check of the belt by removing the top cover first and if I have any doubt will change it. I know it has been changed twice in it's 117k miles so in theory should have a few K left in it, thats assuming the intervals where correct.

Yet another mention (on BBC breakfast TV news) about the increase in fatal road accidents caused by the higher numbers of 4X4's on the road, coupled with a statistically higher risk of accidents (as there are more of them on the road) coupled with them hitting smaller cars and killing the occupants.

What to do? What to do? Who knows! Saw an article in the paper about makers going away from making saloons and hatchbacks, making more 4X4's and MPV's.

Obviously gonna cause a lot of unhappiness to the "Ban 4X4 brigade"

Are the stats selective to put pressure on local authorities to ban them from their streets? Read more

Easter special offer: Friday all week.

Well it appears that I'm going to be working at a different office for the next two years and my leisurely 100 miles a week is going to change to 600-800+ a week.

Now, I know nothing I can do is going to remove depreciation from the equation but what can I do to minimise it (does it make more sense to buy a 2 year old Ford/Vauxhall/Renault or look towards a VW or something posher).

Aston entered the new DB9 in it's first race over the weekend - the 12 hours of Sebring - and WON in the GT1 class!! This is the first race of the 2005 ALMS (American Le Mans Series). See www.astonmartinracing.com/news4_19_03_05.htm for more.

I was lucky enough to be in the grandstand over the Aston pits during the final stages of the race, and to be one of the first British supporters to get to the pit lane and congratulate Dave Richards.

Sports car racing beats F1 by miles for spectator-friendly circuits and teams, and sheer entertainment. Watch out for the re-runs - although I'm not sure whether it is scheduled anywhere yet. Read more

Has anyone any idea what the sets of flashing lights are for on the M74. they seem to be next to emergency phones, and only for about a 10 miles stretch near Abington.

Hi all,

2 days ago a warning light came on on my 1991 Volvo 940 GLE's dash board.

It'a an explanation mark !

Never been on before.

Looked in Haynes - does not say what it is.

I have the Volvo 940 owners' manual somwehere but i cannot find it.

trid the Volvo Owners club - but you have to join {pay!!!!!!} to get any help.

Also seen a 'chip' for £4.95 that claims to boost power by 20BHP - a piggy back device ''externally alters one or more signals sent to the Volvo 940 ECU''

Can it be any good for a fiver ??????????

Many thanks

Yes, I think you are right Ross. I'd forgotten Volvo went back to straight sixes again.

bewildered

I need a replacement car, and I'm so confused... requirements:

Only interested in used, spending up to £7000 or so.
Must be hatch or estate (the dog doesn't like boots)
Needs to have a reasonable amount of headroom - there's a stupid number of cars I don't fit in, having short legs and long torso. Also needs to fit 3 other 6ft adults.

I mainly drive around town, but want something that's also happy on the motor-way. I'm happy with diesel as well as petrol, and am tempted by auto-gas. I'm a fairly sedate kind of driver generally.

Logically, I know I should go for a Focus - but find it hard to get enthusiastic about them. Equally, I've driven Fabias (I currently have an ancient but reliable Felicia) and they just seem dull and unresponsive somehow.

The only car that I've driven recently that actually makes me smile is a Subaru Forester 2.0 .....but I don't think I can justify the poor mpg. I find it hard to say just what it is about the Subaru that I like, but it seems to have loads of character. Should I just shrug and buy it, or what other suggestions does anyone have?

Do your bit for the future and get an LPG driven vehicle.

Do remember that although it may be big enough for you when on your own it may pinch a little with 4 of you in it.

I always try to get one with sound body and engine, a good radio/cd and try to get one that hasn't got the kind of tyres that you need to take out a second mortgage to renew.

Although it doesn't affect me ( my wife works for a motor retailer/repairer so she gets a good discount ) you have to remember that servicing costs can vary immensely between different makes and if you take the extra warranty you may have to get it serviced by a dealer that sells that type of car ( Honda servicing can be very expensive ).

Hope that helps.

Hello and welcome to what is quite possibly the most vague description ever.

My mate has a K reg Rover 214 something. I thought it was an SLi but now I don't think it is. It has something fancy after the 214 anyway, it's K reg and 3 doors.

He was driving it the other day and it just stopped on the motorway and wouldn't start again. He's been told it could be the fuel filter or the ECU - both pretty much writing off the car as it's done very hogh mileages and both components would cost more than the car.

I was wondering if the BR had any other suggestions as to what the problem could be. I haven't seen the car since it broke down and my mate's left it at another mate's so can't try anything you might suggest. All I know is that there's a spark and obviously it's turning over.

Many thanks but it's understandable if you can't help working off the limited information I've given you!

Cheers,

As James said, on my mate's it was by the centre console. I'd give that a go.

Help Please,
Where is it on the engine, I can't see it?
Do I have to remove a cover plate underneath, to get to it?
Great believer in regular Oil & filter changes, advice appreciated.
