After all the carry on I'm having with the pug my runabout citreon ax is now having issues. Its only a little 1 litre thing, 1995 ish. Anyway it keeps randomly stuttering as though not firing correctly. It was killing batteries when I first got it but I remedied that by fastening the alternator on properly and tightening a wire on it. Obviously not been correctly fitted. Now it seems to misfire occasionally, mainly in damp weather and after the engine is warm. I would have to repair this on the side of a very busy road where buses hurtle past so would like to know in advance the most likely causes so I can minimise the time I spend risking my life out there. Quite a few cars have been shunted from behind whilst parked out there. Read more
carpark would be safer but sods law says I forget the tool I require. Its ok, I'll try and park the AX behind another car to minimse the risk of being hit.
My first thought was sparks but someone said its more likely a sensor as the others all tend to be 'cold' problems.
I have just checked the engine/transmission options for the C4 on the Citroen website and I am very disappointed to see there is no diesel automatic.
These are now becoming more and more common in new cars these days and it is surprising for Citroen not to offer an auto transmission with the diesel engines in this car, as they are available with the C5 and Peugeot 407. They do still offer an auto transmission with the Xsara 2.0 HDI too. Read more
We are very interested in getting one, but my wife needs an automatic and the HDIs are lovely engines. I hope a diesel auto is not too long in making an appearance.
Hi all,
I have a Mk2 Rover 200 (coupe turbo, but I think this is common across the range) and it wears the front tyres (standard wheels and suspension) more heavily around the inside edges that the outside. It's a very marked difference - they were actually completely bald on the inside and still well within tolerance on the outside. (It's not terribly easy to see the insides so I didn't even know this until it failed the MOT - I'd never normally compromise on such a safety issue!)
Last time I had the tracking checked, the guy told me it was out, but that it was not adjustable. But I have heard the opposite from other sources, so is it possible to adjust this? Anyone know from experience? What's the jist of the job?
(Also, what is the name of the setting I need to adjust? Is it the camber?)
Thanks!

Thanks chaps. I'll get the tracking checked and see how it goes.
(It's unfortunate that you have to wait a couple of years to find if it's worked, and then shell out £400 for new tyres if it didn't!)

fiesta 1.2 zetec p plate 5 door.
engine nackered.
big ends i think.
car runs, but as soon as you put your foot down - horrible loud noise.
can this be fixed or is a new engine the only option?
car is mint so worth repairing.
how much for a new engine? Read more
Had a look at one several months ago..It was reported as having big ends gone. Turned out Hole in no1 piston. Cost £500 to repair..Apart from the time involved getting the parts. It seems to be a difficult unit to obtain.Otherwise it would have been easier to replace than repair..May be different now

Police could not believe their eyes when they pulled over a dilapidated bakkie [pick up truck, Ian!] on the West Coast Road early today and discovered it had no steering wheel.
The driver, careering at a "considerable speed" towards Table View, had been keeping the hand-painted Ford Cortina bakkie on the road using a pair of vice-grip pliers clamped around the steering shaft. The steering wheel, with an anti-theft device in place, was next to him on the passenger seat.
When suspicious police flagged him down near Parklands they at first thought the vehicle had been stolen, but a check on the police computer system was negative.
The Melkbosstrand man explained that he had been fixing the bakkie and had not been able to find the key for the steering lock.
A Table View policeman said he slowly drove the "death trap" to his charge office, where Milnerton traffic officials were to examine the vehicle and charge the driver.

From todays Namibian:
www.namibian.com.na/
"Eleven die on Roads at Weekend."
"In another accident on the same road, four people died about 12 kilometres from Tsumeb on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Shatika Titus, Johannes Nghifikwa (29), Natalia Hamutenya (age unknown) and 18-month-old Haina Eliakim.
Sixteen others travelling in the Toyota minibus were admitted to hospital.
A tyre burst is believed to have been the cause of the accident."
This type of accident is quite common in Namibia and the authorities still haven't cracked down on overloaded "taxi's".

Help! My Astra is overheating.I have narrowed the fault down to a faulty cooling fan 1st speed resistor, but i can't find the offending item.Any one know where i should be looking???? Read more
Hi, interested to know if you solved your problem. I too have an astra with fan problem.Fan kicks in at over a 100 on full but not the lower speed. I have a voltage of about 9.5v at the fan but this does not operate the fan
Fiddling with elderley ladies would definitely have got you in some kind of trouble... :-)

Citroen repair costs may be low but acording to the survey they are needed twice as often and the car's aren't as old either.
