My air con/ climate control has started to blow unchilled air intermittantly, the fan speeds up when the outside temp air comes in then drops back when the chilled air kicks in.

Could someone please put me out of my misery and tell me the repetitive words of the Megane TV advert ~ the one with all the shaking derrieres? 'Er indoors will not stop going on about it (she suspects it's something distasteful) until I can tell her, and unfortunately my hearing is just not good enough to be able to distinguish the words. Please help ~ she's driving me bananas!

How did they get the guy at the beginning of the advert to move like that? Have tried to copy but can't do it. Must have nailed his feet to the diving board?
I am trying to replace the strter motor in my mark vw golf 1.6 driver.
The three bolts which hold the starter motor in position also act as the engine mounting at the front. How do you change the starter motor? do you have to hold the engine in position while you work on the starer motor?
any help would be most grateful. thanks

Does anybody know how easy it would be to fit a power socket in the boot of a zafira? The wiring is present but is not powered. Any ideas? Read more
The space for the socket is behind the panel on the drivers side. There is a blanking grommet that comes out and the cable is behind it if you stick your finger in.
Noticed that the government have decided (after 2 years deliberation) that learner drivers should not have motorway driving as part of their training.
I personally know at least 2 people who won't drive on motorways as they find them frightening, if they had had motorway driving as part of their lesson or test would they feel the same way?
I can't see any logical reason for not including it as it gives everyone at least some experience of motorway driving.
Any BRoomers see any logic behind this?

My son gained his IAM badge at the age of 28.
He is still constantly and continually seeking to update and hone
his driving skills several years later.
That is the whole point of being an advanced driver. You
realise that you always have something new to learn every day,
of every week and of every year.
Excellent. Attitude to be admired.
I wish more had similar.Unfortunately, many don't.
If the IAM is treated as it should be - the 2nd step up the ladder - it is very useful.
I have talked to several Groups whose members think it a good achievement in itself.
When I suggest regular re-tests, there has been a mixed reception. From "Yes - we already do that" through silence to outright antagonism - "We passed 10 years ago, so must be OK".
Lucky me, since i bought my car new two years ago the only reason i have had to go under the bonnet has been to check the oil, water and washer levels. In a years time I shall have to start getting my hands a little more dirty. Can someone tell me where the oil filter is on the VW POLO 1.4TDI PD and how do you take off the cover on top of the engine because i cannot see any fastenings.
Thanks

The original Beetle had windscreen washers that ran off the air pressure from the spare tyre. Saved battery power. Rendered the spare wheel useless. Read more
IIRC the cougar was based on a the second generation (P-Y) mondeo. It featured two engines the 2.0 Zetec and the 2.5 Duratec. It was designed for the eurpean market I think but sold in the american market as a budget coupe. (much like the XR4i Sierra was sold as the Merkur i think)
By all accounts it was a good car to drive but was too expensive for what it was (a mondeo in clothing) and hence wasn't the spiritual successor of the Capri (as was expected at the time), just an expensive oddball ford that plummeted in price.
The design was "based around triangles" if I remember correctly with everything having something vaguely triagnular about it.
The Probe was a Mazda MX6 in drag, but with an additional 2.0 engine as well as the shared 2.5

My 2000(W) Mazda Premacy 1.8 petrol has a frustrating habit of not starting (mostly when you are in a hurry!). The immobilser light is off, engine turns over but does not catch. Waiting approx 10 mins seems to solve the problem and it will start as normal. There appears no pattern to when and why this happens and the fault occurs irrelevant of engine temperature, ambient temperature, distance driven etc, but it WILL start after being sat all night or after longer standing time. Sometimes it happens once a fortnight and sometimes twice a day.
Any advice and possible solutions greatly recieved. The car is booked into a Mazda dealer next week, but they don't really know what they're going to look for, especially if there is no code left in the CPU memory Read more
Just recently, and intermittently, the dashboard headlight indicator has started to flash for no reason whatsoever. Not a regular flash, more a kind of can't make its mind up kind of flash. The headlights and dashboard back lights have not come up at the same time as far as I am aware, this only happens to the one green light.
Turning off the engine and restarting has cured it, as has switching the headlights on manually (normally on auto) and then off again.
Has anyone else had this? Happened twice yesterday (given that I only used the car three time that is quite a high percentage)
Worth mentioning to the dealer as still got another year warranty? (Local dealer seems quite good at fixing the various recalls/ leaks/ non working reversing lights/dodgy indicator stalk etc that have needed to be done.
Any suggestions gratefully appreciated, I am just concerned that what is a little irritating problem now may become a much bigger issue later.

My HPI 02 model suffered "auto headlights activated" warning message coming on at irregular intervals. Dealer fixed it Friday and said the microswitch in the indicator stalk had welded closed.
Simple cure but typical of the breed it seems.

i'll put ozzie on the directory, a mechanic I know well said they always take their cars to ozzie for air con problems
