Hi everybody
Any advice on what is the best car supermarket in the South East in terms of screen prices and part exchange deals.
I prefer to buy a car at an auction but have had no luck selling my car privately (it's an immaculate, low mileage, 2 year old Focus). I need to upgrade to a Mondeo because I've just bought a caravan and the Focus can't pull it. Because I can't get hold of the cash to go to an auction I need to part exchange it.
The prices at places like Car Giant and Trade Sales don't seem too bad but does anybody know what they are like with part ex values?

Just had oil and filter changed for £15 oil used was duckhams qxr semi-synth rated 10w40. Can i top up oil in the future with any as long as it is 10w40 or do i need 2 use semi synth 10w40 ???? Not big on oil just wondering.. Read more
Had my crappy 1.6 vectras oil changed for £15.00 at National.
It used to use about a litre every 1250 miles prior to the change for 60,000 miles since more or less new. Mysteriously its stopped using any since the oil change.Question is could that be caused by them using the mineral £10 oil instead of the semi synth? If so is it likely to cause any damage particulary at this time of year when it is a little warmer and given the mileage on the car ( I am assuming that the mineral oil is thicker, which may or may not be the case)
So you can form your own opinion.....

No, not in an accident, but deliberately.
The main photo shows a Honda Hornet the same as I ride on the road, but I must admit, why ruin it by trying to pretend it's a car?! It doesn't even have a flat profile rear tyre to take full advantage of that fact that it's always perpendicular to the road.
Well, some may love it, many will be indifferent but a big Thumbs Down from me.

There's more than one!!
Hi,
Just bought a second hand 2001 ford focus for 6K. So now have two cars, and a 5 years no claim.
I was able to get my 5 years on both cars, but now, feel with two cars, it i am in a bash with one, i could be in trouble.
It will cost me £50 per year per car for a no claims cover insurance, which means i am allowed 2 bashes in 3 years, and can keep the no claims.
Anyone got any thoughts/experiences?
It is all a question of risk vs money vs peace of mind. Read more
You obviously didn't read far enough - there's more than one
page.
I wasn't knocking More Th>n in any way, only that I
couldn't find any reference to the NCB protection offer perhaps being
a freebie.
I did read it all, I thought you were saying you found the triple gaurantee confusing. I see now you were looking for the free NCB protection which the other BR'er claims he recieved as an introductory offer. Well maybe they don't give it away for free anymore.

First Safety Cameras, then police ANPR cameras and their cousins congestion charge cameras. Now, single occupancy monitoring cameras. I guess Two Jags\'ll still be okay though, as he\'s usually chauffeured!

Hi all BR's
My Brother-in-law is wanting to spend about £2.5K on a VW camper.
He hasn't got a clue about campers/cars/engines etc, and i've tried convincing him this would be a bad idea - i suspect he won't have any cash available for major maintainance.
He's having non of it, so any suggestions as to the most reliable/cheepest to maintain models, and any general advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance. Read more
Go for the newest model you can find.
Preferably one that needs simple maintenance.
Your B. in-law can get bits from Euro or GSF carparts cheaply and I bet you know someone who can fit them.
Good choice
There was a bit of mist across central Southern England this morning. Not a pea-souper by any means, but enough to warrant putting your dipped headlights on.
Naturally those of a moronic inclination opted for the "how many watts can I show" school of motoring. I'm typing this through a residual red haze, imprinted on my retinae.
As usual the worst culprits were those with only one functioning brake light, leaving you guessing as to whether they were slowing or going. Bless 'em.
So just to warn you all that for the next 2 weeks or so you can expect these same people to have forgotten that they switched the damn things on, thus blinding all and sundry once it gets dark.
Brings a lovely warm glow.... to your windscreen. Read more
I can confirm that (some) BMWs' headlights are not very good. I share driving to work with a colleague who has an L reg 520i: his lights are hopeless for the dark country road we have to travel, so on occasion he supplements them with the fogs.

Just wait till Mr Smolensky puts the AJ6 engine into a
Lada.
That would bring LAC back!

Anyone have a good idea what the Focus would fetch at auction? Just curious.
