Hi,
Can anyone recall a thread about trying to sell cars that were owned by a recently deceased relative? (I searched but I can't find anything!!)
Where can I gain a valuation etc?
Thanks in advance

I have been offered a Peugeot 306 GLX 1.9TD on and R plate for a very good price. Full service history, mint condition but it has done 115,000 miles and of course so has all the running gear. I?m not used to cars with such a high mileage but the price is very tempting for a commuter car for my daughter. Any opinions/experience on how tough these diesels are or is this a barge pole job ?? Thanks Peter Read more
The long distance stuff may offset the longer oil change intervals, i.e. may have prevented the oil from degarading too much.
I recall that the general consensus of this group is that 6K changes are best, regardless of what the manufacturer says.
(and are 12K changes a manufacturers conspiricy to remove used cars off the market in a few years time??)
My Pug 405 had 88K when I bought it, and the bonnet leading edge was healthily chipped, indicating a life on motorways and at high speed. And it ran to 251K. And would have gone further, but that\'s another story...(see archive - \"Goodbye 405\")

Anyone any thoughts or opinions on the Peugeot 306 xsi? I am looking for one at the moment. About £3 - £3.5k 96P ish - less than 60k miles. Read more
Didn't notice most of these posts were from 2003! No wonder figures of £3.5k for a P reg are being mentioned. Wonder why it's suddenly returned.
I have a 1.2 mark 1 clio. The pipe leading from the air cleaner to the cylinders has a hole in. I want to replace it but need to know if it has a certain name so I can find a replacement in a nearby car parts shop. Can anyone help?

yeah, currently gaffered up but car soon to be sold and don't want to put off potential buyers with dirty great bit of gaffer tape!
I thought they might just cut a bit off a large roll of the stuff, must be similar in all cars. Depending on diameter etc..

Airport baggage trolleys have a default brake which you have to hold up to make it go, why not supermarket ones?
Where I live the supermarkets very kind supply bag boys to take your stuff to the car for you. Something all these immigrants could be put to work at while they're waiting for their asylum applications to be rubber-stamped?
So a train driver is in trouble because he made up time by cracking on a bit? If this story is correct, it appears that the passengers, and the general public, are rightly concerned about this.
Yet if you transfer this scenario to the roads, people do it all the time, apparently without any worry about safety. Is this another example of that curious way we apply double standards to the railways?
How many of us have jumped a red or amber light, judging that it is safe or perhaps the lights have broken? But aren't we appalled when an engine driver ignores a red signal? Read more
Some minister, of tzar, or whatever, said exactly the same thing on Radio 4's Today program on Monday morning.
Hello once again...
The latest "challenge" is the need to have a tacho. if I am towing for business. Or so it seems.
It appears from a number of sources on the web that if I have a gross train weight of over 3500kgs or I am towing for hire and reward "long distance", then I need a tacho. arrgh.
Am I reading this correctly?
This potentially puts a huge cost burden on me if I have to retro-fit a tacho to the Trooper, which I suspect I can't anyway.
Has anyone fitted a tacho to a similar vehicle? They all seem to be of around 6" dash aperture size. No good for my vehicle....
And are they cable-driven, or can an electronic sensor be fitted on, say, the prop shaft to give a signal, and then have the speedo element caliburated?
Or even better, can one run off a GPS and calculate speed that way?
This is barminess. How do farmers taking livestock to more distant markets handle this? More in the breach than in the observance?
Comments welcome. The "4x4 and trailer" solution was so good for me, but it looks like I need to find an alternative. I can't even hire a 7.5 tonne boxvan now as I would need an operators license. And a Luton only has a 1 tonne payload.
The response "buy a lorry" not really helpful!
Cheers

I bought a new Ibiza Cupra in May 2001. I\'ve just traded in for a new Leon Cupra (both using my own hard-earned). The Ibiza cost me about £160 per month on depreciation (not that bad actually). I just like (new) cars. I like to save money, but I don\'t mind spending it for something I feel I will enjoy (ie good food, proper airlines and not budget ones, real beer and nice wine). Undoubtedly some (many?) will think I\'m a complete idiot. There you go!
Ah, the men in white coats are here now... ;-)

Had finally (well nearly) convinced myself that I deserved a new car and that it should be an X-Trail Sport-X, when I spotted a short article on the Auto Express website about a revamped version expected in the UK by the new year.
Dammit. Now I'm in a quandary. I can get the 2.2Di Sport-X for around £18200 (a healthy discount on list), but should I wait for the newer model? A 'slight' price rise is anticipated, but will the same discounts be available on the newer model?
I would welcome any advice - and any more info re the changes as the Auto Express article has limited information (and only very small pictures).

With the recent closer links between Nissan and Renault, are you sure the new 2.2 DCi engine is not sourced from Renault ???
After reading all the cases on this forum regarding Renault`s faults and problems, I would be placing my order elsewhere, - at least the Freelander has a decent BMW engine. !!!
Thanks for your suggestions.
