James,

Well I'm sure you know about the "Dent Doctor" type guys who will come and remove most without filling/spraying. But it sounds like yours would rack up a cost to exceed its value.

Best wait and buy your next car with no dents in it and then take care with parking. Avoid supermarkets/city shopping centers and support your local village shop for dent free parking.

The time mine was the victim of a hit and run trolley I caled "Dent Wizzard " out and it cost in the region of £100 for up to 3 dents per panel.
It was money well spent and just to watch how they make the dents disapear before my eyes was amazing to say the least, because the trolley that hit mine must have been fully laden as my dents were huge.

This is beside the point, but it reinforces my argument that trolleys should be made with proper directional steering and hands-off parking brakes.

Airport baggage trolleys have a default brake which you have to hold up to make it go, why not supermarket ones?

Where I live the supermarkets very kind supply bag boys to take your stuff to the car for you. Something all these immigrants could be put to work at while they're waiting for their asylum applications to be rubber-stamped?

Hi

my car is worth more then £100 so i think i will spend £200 repairing the bodywork as 4 trolley dents lets the cars very nice look down

they are only small dents the size of a 50p

Kind regards

I have seen a number of dent pullers being sold in the high streets.

These would probably do for larger dents, about 1/4 of a panel upwards, rather than smaller ones, although you could probably find smaller ones from somewhere.

I have to say though, I view trolley dents etc as a normal pat of motoring, which is why I cannot get upset about such small imperfections in a 10 year old car.

Hi

i get upset about small dents and imperfections when the rest of the car is in like new condition, they are only small and i suppose they are not killing me so i will leave them alone, if more appear i will take action

Thanks

Hi there
I saw your discussion there and had to reply, just wanted to let you know about a dent repair service in the south of England well Portsmouth and surrounding areas actually, there called Dentcraft there a mobile service and they dont charge anywhere near the prices mentioned earlier.Their prices start from £40 PER PANEL for door/trolley dents regardless of the number of dents and larger stuff is priced accordingly to the size and location of the dent. Why do i know so much about this firm? yes you guessed it the guy in question is me?
email dentcraft at jst_dents@hotmail.com or call 07901874725
and ask for justin

I was quoted £75 for 2 dents which I thought was a bit steep (Dentmaster) at the time.

My local dealership told me that I would be able to tell if I used Dentmaster and the car needed two panel resprays at a far greater cost.

I plumped for Dentmaster and whilst no doubt he made a tidy sum out of me for the time taken, the job was faultless. He even showed me a dent that I had that I didn't know about and got rid of that as well for no extra charge.

He did it at work for me and it took 45 mins or less. I watched him and he was really bothered about getting rid of the dents totally.

The only no go areas are where the back of the panel is double skinned, like a wheel arch, or where it is just not practically accesible.

Do you feel that your car has magnetic properties? I do with mine, last week I had cause to go shopping at my local Safeway, the car park was empty, I parked as far from the shop I could, but, lo' and behold a lady of indeterminate years proceeded to try and park next to me, she did so in such a manner that she could not open her door, and took offence when I pointed her transgression out to her.

I moved my car, and sat reading the paper whilst the memsahib did what was necessary, within seconds another (this time an extremely FAT woman, which has no bearing whatosover on the argument, but makes it even more difficult for her to get of her car) drove up and parked extremely close to my vehicle. She too was offended when I pointed out her error.

I am convinced that if I were not in my car they would have opened the doors without any regard to any damage they would caused to my car.

Why is it that bBritish motorists feel the need to park next to somebody else ?

Answers on the back of a postcard please.....

Or preferably in the Discussion forum, as general conversation about how trolley dents occur isn't of a technical nature.

I think there are several reasons for the amount of dents on cars today
firstly they dont make car parking spaces big enoug for real cars they cram in as many as they can!!! prob about money!!
sort of a screw anyone who wants to take good care of their car really!

second i think people in general are getting more lazy and try to park as close to the supermarket door as possible.

and thirdly car manufacturers are using thinner gauge steel to keep prices down(again its about money) which means that cars are more prone to denting if they get a little knock!

i would be happy to hear anyone elses views on this subject

I agree with you entirely JST_1. I also believe the reason why can manufacturers are using thinner gauge steel is to reduce weight and therefore improve performance and economy.

Hello all

My mondeo has dents on the creases i have been told by a friend that cant be repaired.

They are small from door bangs but iam not really worried about them.

Are they expensive to remove.
