Bob, you wrote to me about some browser problems yesterday. I've replied, but your ISP is returning your mail saying your mailbox is full. Write me again when you've sorted it out, would you?

Martyn,
Got your message in my inbox, to which I just replied, and a couple of other new ones. - the box was almost empty. I have since got a couple of people to Email me - both OK. So I have no idea why that happened

Dear all, I am now the proud owner of a Nissan Primera hatch 91 on a J. The clutch is very heavy, is this common to this model or is there a cheap and easy solution? Thank you. Gary. Read more
Gary,
Nissan clutches are renowned for their light and progressive operation.
A heavy clutch is a sure sign of a worn out clutch.
It would also be wise to replace the cable at the same time (I'm sure they are cable-operated....!)
Clutch replaceemnt on these cars is a doddle and shouldn't cost any more than about £250ish maybe less.
Try the local Nissan Dealer - many have 3yr+ labour rates to cater for the 'older' cars. That way, you would get a decent job done.
Otherwise any reputable local garage should be capable.
I wouldn't go anywhere near any of the fast fit centres.

Hi all,
On a lighter note this one.
As i work in an aircraft apprentice school with lots of young drivers, male and female, i posted up a list of speed camera locations in our local area. I hope it will slow them down a little. Some hope !
One lad was reading the lists and mentioned that he'd just been given 3 points. I asked why. " I got stopped on the M4 " he said. What, speeding were you, i asked. " No, going too slow ! ". Pardon i said. " Aye, patrol car stopped me". What car were you driving, i enquired. " 50cc moped with L plates " was his reply. " The coppers said i was lucky not to be banned, i only got my license last week ".
What excuse did you give, i asked. " I was lost and took a wrong turning and got confused ". Didn't work though, did it ? " No", was his answer.
He's gaining experience as he goes along, i guess.
Rgds,
Ash. Read more
Yes HJ, the lack of 'shift' and 'full stop' keys is a bit of a giveaway isn't it, never mind the IP address.

I have an LP olf Peter Ustinov's "The Grand Prix Of Gibraltar" which I bought in 1958/9. This is a classic of motoring memorabilia which I fell should have some value to someone. Is anybody interested? Read more
Try Durham University - he's the Chancellor so someone might want it.

Anyone out there know of any problems with latest Golfs steering/pulling to the left, when no camber on road etc.
I've a new 4Motion which 2 VW dealers have tried to cure of this problem, but to no avail, merely saying it's within VW tolerances. The car is fitted with the Santa Monica alloys and sports suspension. But you have to constantly keep the wheel pulled to the right of the self-centering position, which makes driving tiring at the very least. Tyres/wheels have been swapped around, but no improvement, so restored to original position.
Any thoughts, anyone? Read more
have the track rod end positions checked its possible the track rods are not positioned evenly on some of the speed sensitive power racks they self position to the centre rather than being pulled there by the caster of the wheel so if the rod ends are positioned unevenly the steering will always want to pull one way not sure if vw racks do this but might be worth a check

When the MOT runs out on my F reg Montego I intend to scrap it as it the car is not worth the cost of the necessary repairs.
How do I go about this? Do I have to pay someone to take it or will they pay me for it. Read more
Our nextdoor neighbour did the same, except he kept it in the front garden then used a cold chisel and 2 lb lump hammer to chop it into small enough pieces to put on his trailer to take to the skip. Was he not popular!
As a result of the missus getting a new job in Stratford-upon-Avon I'm busily trying to find a job in the West Midlands area.
I have got two interviews lined up. One in central Birmingham (next Tuesday 12.30pm) and the other in Coventry (next Wednesday 9am). Has anyone got any experience on what traffic would be like at these times? I was intending to drive to both interviews.
The next question is if I was successful in getting offered either/both (touchwood!!) positions what would general commuting be like to both these locations? I expect to be based in or around Stratford-upon-Avon. I suspect the train will be the best option for Birmingham!!
As usual any advice would be grately received.

Did you put a single space between the 2 halves of your postcode (ie HA20 2YB)? If you did not it won't work.
