As a result of the missus getting a new job in Stratford-upon-Avon I'm busily trying to find a job in the West Midlands area.
I have got two interviews lined up. One in central Birmingham (next Tuesday 12.30pm) and the other in Coventry (next Wednesday 9am). Has anyone got any experience on what traffic would be like at these times? I was intending to drive to both interviews.
The next question is if I was successful in getting offered either/both (touchwood!!) positions what would general commuting be like to both these locations? I expect to be based in or around Stratford-upon-Avon. I suspect the train will be the best option for Birmingham!!
As usual any advice would be grately received.

I have a 93MY 1.8i Cavalier. The idle speed is a little low on the car and the injection system frequently "revs" the engine as it thinks the car is about to stall. The throttle stop appears to be on a thread but you cannot get to the other side ie screw head to alter it (blocked off with what appears to be solid metal). Anyone got any ideas of how I can adjust this or do I have to go to a Vauxhall dealer and doubtlessly pay god knows how much to have the injection system corrected? Read more
Dan,
As well as the throttle body and idle speed control valve, it is essential to clean the crankcase breather vacuum port (follow the smaller of the two hoses from the cam cover to where it enters the inlet manifold below the throttle body).
The idle control valve is notoriously troublesome, and if you buy a new one from Vauxhall you will find it has a new part number indicating a modified unit.

Referring to the "controling users" remarks, anyone with the titled problem can easily download freeware (try ZDNet) which will clean out cookies. I regularly purge my disk this way. You get the option to keep any you want, as well. Read more
I had thought of you as an edgy renagade type really, more likely to be in the Cruiser than observed by it.
Now I'm worried you could be "coterie" after all.
Oh yes, that ugly car...bet it's only a Multipla.

Hello. Could anyone kindly advise on a new antifreeze, the acronym of the title being O.A.T ? I seem to remember a mention on some other thread here but I have been unable to locate it. Am I right, does this type of antifreeze have better anti corrosion properties than the normal glycol type, when used with non ferrous components ? Could anyone suggest a trade name or title which I could look out for ? Thanks Read more
Thanks to both for information
My apologies for posting this, but I have a 'T' plate BMW 728. Last of the straight 6's without fuel injection. It has been standing for 18 months, but still starts, drives and stops. I need to get rid of it before Friday night. If someone wants to give me money for it that would be nice, but if it can go to a good home where its bits would help someone else, thats O.K.

How do Insurance companies get their market values ?
'They' have just written off as 'beyond economical repair' a Nissan Primera 94/L 4 door saloon(44k genuine miles on the clock, lovingly looked after and garaged by a retired gentleman and in superb condition) and offered £2425 in compensation.
Glasses Guide gives a Retail price of £2990 yet their 'Excellent condition' is £1735. What is the difference ??
Do you think we should try to get them to increase their offer ?
Perhaps 'they' should be made to repair the car whatever the cost to them as it has enormous sentimental value. Why should 'they' decide if it is to be repaired ? Read more
Mark wrote: ">A signature is simply convenient proof that a contract is in place, and what are the details of that contract.<"
Exactly, the details of the contract agreed by both parties.
In a nutshell. insurance policies (contracts) are written by insurers for the benefit of insurers, if the premium (contract value) was large enough, the client could write a policy (contract) to meet his requirements in the knowledge that an insurer would provide cover ("win" the contract), if only to boost gross income. I believe that the largest fleet owners (Post Office? etc) don't purchase insurance
but have a fund available to cover any claims (this info is not up to date so may be incorrect).

That's what I want to hear!
got 1987 rover 827i honda V6 drinking water overheating after 5 mins misfiring on no1 cyl when hot and white smoke from exhaust . Head gasket blown I hear you say - but someone said the alloy blocks corrode away at liner seals (expensive) so the dilemma is could it be the gasket or the block? should I take the head off or just scap the car while it can still be driven to the yard. Help? Read more
Search a bit further down, as someone has had the same problem. If memory serves me correctly, the prognosis was not good. As it's a Honda engine, I would have thought better of it.
Police pulled over a hamster on the M6 near Spaghetti Junction today.

I'm at home, I've just reread that, and I apologise unreservedly.
What are the odds of this? It's scarily spookie.
