Peugeot 208 (2019) At A Glance

Available with petrol, diesel or electric power. Electric has 211-mile range. Prices from £16,250 to over £30,000 for the 211 mile range electric version.

On sale Summer 2020.

The new Peugeot 208 and new model Vauxhall Corsa went on sale in October 2019 at prices from £16,250. It is available with petrol and diesel engines, as well as an electric version badged the e-208 with a range of up to 211 miles.

Buyers can choose from a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with 75, 100 or 130PS or a BlueHDi 1.5-litre diesel engine with 100PS. There's also a choice of six-speed manual or EAT8 eight-speed automatic gearboxes.

The interior of the 208 is inspired by the tech laden 508, with an abundance of soft-touch materials and a compact steering wheel that's complemented by a minimalist dashboard design. The 3D digital instrument panel can be projected like a hologram via the colour touchscreen.

There's also a seven- or ten-inch touchscreen display, depending on trim level, which provides Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Peugeot is offering a host of driver assistance technology including adaptive cruise control, active lane keeping assist and automatic headlight dipping.

Prices initially from £16,250 to £23,350 for the 208 1.2 Puretech 130 GT Line EAT8. The all-electric e-208 is likely to follow prices of the Vauxhall Corsa-e at around £30,000, minus the £3,500 Government Grant.

Do any small cars offer 4-wheel-drive?

Could you please recommend a small car that is both automatic and all wheel drive, with a high seat and driving assistance systems? It would be for use in a mountainous area with occasional snow on the roads in the winter. If there is not much choice, which small front wheel car would be good for snow with winter tyres on?
There aren't many small cars with four-wheel drive and, to be honest, we'd recommend a front-wheel-drive model with winter tyres anyway. It'll be cheaper to run than an AWD car and you'd be surprised at the difference a set of tyres will make in cold weather. Look at a Ford Fiesta or Peugeot 208.
