Kia Sportage (2005 – 2010) At A Glance

Enjoyable drive, especially in diesel form. Plenty of kit. Rear seats recline and fold flat easily. Roomy and practical.

Not as fuel efficient as a RAV-4, CR-V or X-Trail diesel. Thick back pillars compromise rear three-quarter vision.

Insurance Groups are between 18–22
On average it achieves 84% of the official MPG figure

The first nice surprise when you step inside the a Sportage is the smell. There isn't one. Interiors of cars from South Korea used to pong like a glue factory, but thankfully the Sportage is an odour-free zone.

Why is my Kia Sportage diesel automatic not starting?
I've got a 2008 Kia Sportage that ran out of diesel. I've changed the diesel filter and bled the fuel. Primed the pump but it's still not starting. It's turning over for a bit but the turn over dies down after each turn. Any ideas?
Airlock in the fuel line. You haven't bled it all out.

Best SUV for £10k?
We're looking to buy our first SUV, what would you suggest for under £10k? We'll do approx 8000 miles per year, reliability, economical a must, just concerned about DPF or EGF valve failure.
KIA Sportage, Hyundai ix35, Honda CR-V 2.2iCDTI (pre-2010 no DPF).

Should I sell my car before its big service?
My 2006 Kia Sportage diesel has 70,000 miles on the clock and is due for its major service, which will cost around £1000. Should I pay for the maintenance or sell and buy something else?
That's a timing belt replacement, not chain and always better to do the waterpump too. The car is probably worth £3000 - £4000 and with all this work looming it won't be worth much as a trade in, so probably best to get it done and soldier on.

Used car has had its warranty invalidated - what can I do?
I have just purchased a 2010 KIA Sportage from an authorised dealer; however, the state of the seven year warranty is starting to worry me. Looking at the paperwork, it seems that it hasn't been serviced according to the manufacturer's terms - only a 3rd year body inspection. There’s no mention in the service book of KIA parts being used or authorised dealers. This all contradicts what I’ve been told by the KIA salesman. What should I do?
If the KIA dealer did not explain that the car had lost its seven year warranty you can either back the car on him for a full refund or demand that he pays for a new extended warranty to recover the remaining three years.
