The front suspension on my Toyota Auris passenger side is broken - are speed bumps to blame?

The front suspension on my 2014 Toyota Auris passenger side is shot. The driver's side is fine, but I obviously have to replace both. Are speed bumps causing this and, if so, why only on one side?

Probably. If you are crossing speed cushions correctly: one wheel over, one wheel on the flat, then that could have eventually broken the spring. The alternative is to straddle them, but that destroys the inner shoulders of your tyres.
