My Renault Laguna cuts out when I come to a stop. What's the problem?

I bought a Renault Laguna Privilege about two months ago. It drives like a dream, although it keeps cutting out when I come to a stop. Also I have noticed a slight ticking or light rattling between 0 and 1000rpm, but after that it's fine. I want to get it sorted, but want a rough guide to what the problem could be.

I could do with knowing what year your car is. Anyway, it may be that the throttle body is either worn or requires cleaning, or it could be the idle control valve.
