How can I restore the interior plastic trim on my car?

I have a six year old Ford Focus which has some damage to the centre console, in front of the gear stick. The matt coating on the plastic has come off in certain parts, leaving shiny gloss parts that look unsightly. Is there any way to restore the matt finish to these parts?

Replicating manufacturer finishes yourself can be a challenge, particularly if the material is a coating rather than a paint. You could try options such as Plasti Dip Color Bond or ProXL ProTex Textured Aerosol, but we would suggest testing the finish on some scrap plastic first. For a good finish we would advise removing the affected part before painting, but you may find that it is easier to find a good used part online and simply replacing the affected area.
