How can we tell if a 1998 Rover 200 has the Honda or Rover K-Series engine?

My dad's looking to buy a old 1998 Rover 200 1.6 auto. The seller isn't sure if it has the Honda engine or not. How can we find out?

The Honda engine is 1590cc; the Rover K-Series is 1589cc. If you pop the bonnet, the Honda engine is the opposite way round. The Rover transmission is on the right (I think) and the Honda transmission is on the left.
