Why is the road tax on my BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer so high?

We bought our 65-plate BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer last January. One of the reasons for the purchase was the low VED for £20. However, we have just received our renewal and are being asked to pay £110. Has the road tax gone up?

A 218D Luxury is Band B: £20pa. A 218i Luxury is Band C, which would be £30pa. I can't find any 218d diesels or 218i petrol models, manual or automatic, that are higher than Band C. All I can think of is that the car is fitted with wider, lower profile tyres that bump it up into Band D.
